I so appreciate him confirming that (at least in his mind) Evil Dead is all one continuity! I think the idea of evil being cyclical and unending is far scarier than this being the first time it happens.

Here's my story suggestions for potential sequel I would like to see Beth and Cassie to return The Evil will going to find them and Beth is now pregnant and she is was in the hospital and she needs to protect her new born baby against bunch of Deadites It will be scary to see all sick patients and Nurse's become Deadites and Hospital is a perfect place for next movie

I really enjoyed this just as much as the 2013 Evil Dead. What was interesting was the relation of possession to the fear of motherhood and child bearing. The Marauder was a neat representation of the kids leaching or hinging on the mothers body. As the kids are the ones reaching inside the mother. Maybe even being an image to represent how much a mother sacrifices of herself to protect and care for a child. The independence from both child and mother. I love how these films have simple plots and stories, as the 2013 related the possession to drug addiction and the effects it has on those around you. Both films, in my opinion, are great companion pieces as they both have their own strengths and weaknesses that balance them. RISE drops a level in gore and replaces it with a more flushed out story and characters, and 2013 sacrificed the story a little to push the practical effects and disgusting nature of the brutality. You also cannot talk about ride without touching upon its cinematography and willingness to accept the tropes/cliches of the Evil Dead franchise. It added a subtle level of campiness and some decent jokes throughout the runtime. It had so many callbacks and excellent twist on the known concepts of evil dead, providing a refreshing feeling to things we already know and love. The acting was solid, especially from Sutherland as she plays the Deadite and it’s evilness so well. It surely is a 8/10 film critically, but as an evil dead and horror fan it’s an easy 9/10 or better.

I wonder if Lee has ever spoken to Fede, because Fede has said multiple times that the cabin and book in his movie are the same as in the original. And he also said that it follows the original film's intended ending of Ash dying. But Fede also fell into the misconception that Evil Dead 2 is a remake and not connected to the first film at all. And he mentioned in an interview that because of several things he did in his movie, like putting an old Delta at the cabin, that Evil Dead 2 couldn't be canon with his film because the Delta goes back in time with Ash. So Fede is wrong about Evil Dead 2's canonicty with the first film, but Lee is wrong about Fede's book. He is correct that it acts very differently, at least compared to Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, and Ash vs Evil Dead (it's somewhat similar to original movie if you look beyond the surface). But, because Fede's film exists in an alternate timeline, it's entirely possible it can count as some sort of second book, because it's an alternate version of the main book. The book can affect time and space as we've seen at various times in the movies, shows, and comics (as well as the recordings in Evil Dead: The Game), so anything's possible.

Yeah the concept of multiple timelines in the franchise is there and was even mentioned in season 2 of Ash vs. Evil Dead when Ruby tried explaining it to Ash. Also another theory/detail I saw posted said is that in Army of Darkness there were 3 books that Ash had found meaning there's a better chance of all the movies (as well as alternate endings) being connected/cannon or sharing a similar timeline

There just making up the Canon as they go along to add to the mythology. Sam Rami never cared about the continuity about the series and there just making it up as they go along all that matters is are you having fun with the property are you entertained enough to not care about the weak continuity.

Lee - Bruce's voice over with the priests - his outspoken, passionate delivery - makes me think he wasn't a priest in that scene, and your admission in this interview is starting to confirm my suspicions. You said he was with the priests - not ONE of the priests. Given that timetravel is part of the Evil Dead franchise - if you get to shoot the prequel with the priests versus hundreds of deadites - is it your hope to have Bruce return as an older, slightly wiser, time displaced Ash in the past helping those priests?

I really enjoyed the movie and my buddies were saying a lot of the same stuff he brought up about the books and how the movie's are all connected in that way plus his potential sequel/prequel. That said unfortunately the marauder didn't work for me and wasn't as scary as individual deadites but I loved what he had to say about the fact the possessed children coming together to help their "mother" to create something straight from John Carpenter's The Thing. I found the whole family story very disturbing in an amazing way, just wish the marauder had the chance show off it's brutality. Overall absolutely loved it, and glad they went in that direction to give us a familiar yet fresh spin on the Evil Dead franchise.

@@jasonl1942 Evil Dead 2 is still a sequel its just a sequel that re does the original again. Evil Dead 2 the opening is a reshot recap because Rami didn't have the rights to the first movie but once Ash gets hit by the force into the woods the movie picks directly up from the ending of part 1. The tv series Ash vs Evil Dead makes jokes about the bad continuity of the series from movie to movie Army of Darkness changes the ending of Evil Dead 2 for its opening Sam Rami never cared much about continuity with the franchise but Evil Dead 2 is a sequel the opening is just a short recap of certain elements of part 1 until Ash gets hit by the force which is how the first film ended.
