Watching in 2019, a time where SF is no longer the main event game at EVO, missing this era of the FGC.

I was doing the SF4 trials today and got them all without much problem except for Gen. Insane this dude won Evo with such a character.

7 years later and still enjoyable to watch. The fans and how Xian handled dirty tokido tactics is unbelievable

I'm not that surprised. I mean in the comics Gen DID defeat Akuma. And Ryu said that Gen was probably the only man in the world to do just that.

congratulate to this guy, but I'm not that surprised he won, I have lived in Singapore over 3 years, I know how passionate Singaporean are in this game, and so many people there play quite well.

As a LONG time SF fan but very casual player, there's nothing better than watching someone win with an unpopular character. Way too many people play the same characters at these tourneys.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say, the difficulty of the game doesn't change the genre. 1 frame is 1/60th (you've got a little more with plinking) of a second though.

amazing a person could play as gen on that level. hollyshit gen is the hardest character to master. i barely saw people used gen.

Xian picked up Gen and I predicted he would win cause NO ONE studied that matchup 😂 Same with fei long….players thought he was crap until Fuudo showed them how low IQ they were. Fei long turned out to be one of the most oppressive characters in the game.

no its not, and I don't think you can explain your comment, the only luck I can see is attributing that to the opponents mistakes which if so can be applied to any game in general (atleast ones that involve people opposing each other).

And the best part, no ken, no ryu, or any other top tier character outside of akuma won evo. It was Gen who takes it. Maybe people will learn not to take any other character for granted from now on.
