@@ninaallen7849 stocks like 14psi. This one probably has a 9 turbo too which is bigger and an extra 5psi can be a LOT at low rpm. Especially an early 4g

Buy a 8 block and build a 2.0 long rod engine with the stock crank, it will easily hold all the power you can make with a 9 turbo or fp green. Keeps the stock piston speed with a better rod / cylinderwall angle.

@@GARAGESZERO has nothing todo with low rpm full boost motor wasn't built correctly depending whats wrong with it could've had a fracture in rod that you can't see without a machine or the bearing clearances were set incorrectly I no United states is known for very bad fuel compared to the rest of the world Australia 98 is equivalent to us 110 octane and Australia fuel is much cleaner then the us as servos in Australia have to get the tanks inspected every year just strip motor down and put a forged rotating assembly in it and get all the rotating assembly balanced and matched weight and run lower compression setup due to high boat at low rpm to much compression and how boost at low rpm is a rod killer on all motors btw Tommy you need a full time motor+machine guy in the shop and balancing machine and other machines it costs alot but you make the money back reasonably quick and dont have to rely on out sourcing a machine shop todo the work and not knowing if the machine shop did everything to spec some places that have good turn around time get everything very close but a proper machine shop that charge alot more and take there time gets every thing perfect just done my 2013 dodge challenger 392hemi pulled motor apart and from factory the cylinder bores were between 10thou and 30thou difference and the car only has 5000km on it from new only reason I pulled it down supercharged it and cracked all 8 OEM piston skirts on 8psi boost with next to no timing aswell and stop saying Aussies don't no how to build skylines we've had them since they come out we got sick of doing them OEM+ spec and now we are pushing the limits of technology of new parts some of the best performance parts for skylines are made in Australia nearly any Australian made HP parts are made individually and to more precision then mass produced parts like Nismo and greddy buy 3 Nismo turbos the same and pull them apart and check the difference between the two you'll be very shocked in how much the parts vary in diameter and even the casting strength isnt that good the thing about Nismo is that the name and logo makes a skyline bay look so much nicer

Yeah, I saw it coming too! I have an E4 and its done almost 100,000 miles. The reason for this is because it doesn't get on full boost until 3200rpm and I have set the boost to come in progressively (low gain). Peaks at 1.45 bar on stock internals running an E7 turbo and a larger intercooler. This helps make the boost more progressive too. Its less punchy, but stays in one piece... Well has for the last 23 years I've owned it !

If I had a turbo car I would 100% Jet-hot my headers to keep the heat inside which equals better gas mileage and more efficient boost. At the very least I would wrap my headers. I find it odd that people will spend 5k etc for a turbo kit and run bare metal headers letting all that energy escape.
@hyperspeedcollective600
@hyperspeedcollective600 2 жыл бұрын
Wrapping headers is for NA cars. Turbo cars produce way higher EGTs if you wrap a turbo manifold that thing will fail 100% and I’m not sure what you mean by “energy escaping” high temps will ultimately kill the manifold if wrapped.

The Evo would be an absolute blast @450whp! I would look into a modified stock frame turbo for the build! I had one from Turbobay on my SRT-4, and He builds them for neon S3 kits which are also TD05HR cartridges. His highly optioned stock frame TD05HR cartridges have made well over 500WHP, and he has a good reputation for reliability. It would be a direct bolt on affair, and with a stock 8-9 block/head, should have no problem exceeding your goals! Personally, I would suggest a Turbobay FTW-25XR turbo, and rods/pistons/ 264 cams +springs/retainers. Stock head. Simple block, and stock frame direct fit turbo. I know FP does them too. They have some pretty good options.

@Infidel303
@Infidel303 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. With the turbo setup he’s running there’s no reason to waste the money on a 2.3 stroker. Unless he plans on going with a lot bigger turbo and aggressive cams in the future. 2.0 takes a little longer to spool but keeps the power up high and and 2.3 will spool faster on the low end than fall flat on the high. But yeah I’d keep it a 2.0 and just forge the bottom end.

Lugging the hell out of it, any 4 cylinder needs to be cruising at 3k rpm or higher. Specifically the 4g63 and ej20. FYI the Evo 4 engine is notorious for crank walk. They fixed the issue for the Evo 5 onward. As for "21psi being not that much" that's a lot for a car that came with 14.5psi from the factory. Anything above 18psi on a stock engine your asking for trouble.

Evos make peak boost at around 3800-4200 rpm with a stock frame turbo, no wonder you blew it flooring at 2000 RPM like that 🤦

An evo 9 MIVEC engine would be cool and it would stick to the oem+/ralliart theme

AG autosport 2.2LR kelford 272 + g25 660 Or map 2.2LR stroker 4g63 is king in the 5rs an put the 5 engine in the 4, got to remember the evo 4 was when they redesigned the engine they weren't the best crank walk issues an were common at rod an piston issues evo 5 they got it proper done, 8-9 nailed it

You know what's funny. The thing about Tom's Channel is that the Evo could have blown last week, a month ago, 4 days ago. 😂 he just uploads whatever when ever he feels like it lmaooooo. he probably has the evo gripping asphalt again already.🤣🤣
