Watching that KOF final live was one of the best things I've experienced

That KOF 13 grand finals was indeed one of the hypest games I've ever watched.

That KoFXIII tournament was amazing. It's too bad that Bala seemed to lose his cool near the end, but he was amazing and even though he didn't win, I still think he showed the world that he's one of the best players out there. I can't wait to see what the next Evo brings.

The entire KOF13 tourney was insanely hype. No other Evo moments were as fun to watch. I'm going to play KOF now.

I STILL wish Bala won ;_;. Come back later was such a glorious moment.

Personally, I felt 2012 was KOFXIII year. Those Koreans just came out of nowhere. And combined with Infiltration winning SF and another Korean that won Tekken? It was like Korea was on top of the FGC for a while after that EVO.

Really solid Top 5. Was my first EVO I ever watched and I absolutely LOVED it. Cannot wait for 2013. My top 5 would've included Daigo v Gamerbee though.

Still watching this in 2015. I watched this EVO live from start to finish (online) when it aired and was never as amused or entertained by any other EVO events like i was this one, i will never forget it, man if only i was able to go in person :( Amazing matches and commentating, seriously unforgettable EVO. Yipes though haha.

Love that song with Quad City DJ's vs MvC3... Evo was amazing this year, the Bala v MadKOF was the highlight for me, but the UMvC3 tourney was definately the most hype. I dont like Champ, but I give him credit for winning with a non Phoenix team, Infrit played amazing so I feel sad for him.

Not sure why I went back for some of these old clips. But damn does it hit.

KOF XIII gave me a near heart attack. Bala was so close and a lot of tables turned. Thanks to him, I start using Takuma. Takuma is actually fun to use and to think I thought he wasn't too interesting to use. But I was wrong. KOF seriously gave me the most hype out of all years of EVO. K-O-F FOREVER!!!

I'm don't even play MvC3, but man, my eyeballs were glued to the screen for the entire top 8.

Same reason he wears the headphones while he plays. Just helps him focus/tone out all the lights and crowd.

Exactly. MvC competitively is SO FREAKING TENSE because all it takes is one tiny slip up and next thing you know your assist is fighting 1 v 3. That's why comebacks, such as Infrit in this video using Sentinel, are even more amazing in MvC.

I never played KOF in my life, like once when I was 5, and I love UMvC3, I play it a lot and planning to go to tournaments later on, and I could tell koF was so hype when I was on stream. The chatbox was flooded with OMG BALA OvO! and stuff like that and I pushed my friend out of my window, I was hype more then ever and encouraged me to play KoF13. I was just waiting for Umvc3 to stream to get on too. God, this was a really strong and hype moment and really does top off Umvc3 this year.

i know man. he was actually the one person in the whole tournament i didnt want to see winning. but he won with legit skill, not using phonix at the end surprisingly and he deserves it. i wish ANYONE else had won, but he deserves it.

It was all about KoF for me, me and my friends we were screaming from our houses it was so exciting and intense. Marvel was kind of boring for me, however (though, I am not an MvC3 fan.) I have to say, this year's EVO was the best, especially because of KoF, I had all but completely given up on KoF and this EVO has inspired me to start playing it again, you could tell that the players enjoyed this game and the crowd enjoyed watching it. I hope it returns next year, I'd love to see some runbacks

Something like that, the "Road to EVO" was a set of tournaments that gave seeding for placement at Evo. The better you did in those tournaments (NCR, Torukyen, Final Round, etc.) the more points that you got for a good spot in pools at Evo. That said, so long as you registered for evo beforehand, you can just show up... just know that where you where placed in pools would be random.

This is great. Props on the work that went behind setting this up.

SSBM is going to show the fighting game world just how technical and viable of a tournament game it truly is.

I watched the stream and as an avid MvC fan, I can say the KoF finals were WAY more hype. To be honest, I'm not sure if I've enjoyed watching any series of matches as well as that finals in any game. Really recommend that people watch it.

evo was amazing this year! that finals though, gah! i'm so glad i streamed it at home cause staying at the venue for that long was a test to all spectators as well. kof and umvc finals were nuts! can't wait to see what's in store for next year

from what i've seen so far with most events with top level play is that the pros usually dont use ultras unless its to combo something in. Infiltration top it to the next step by incorporating a key component which helped him win matches

Agreed, ST Tournament of Legends, IWBTG:G, then top 32 of SF4, then KOF, then top 8 marvel, then grand finals SC5, then top 8 SF4, then the rest of marvel. IMO that is the order of hype for me. The first day of SF4 was AMAZING.

I was only really interested in watching marvel, but i did catch the finals for KOF and SCV, KOF was insaaaaaaaneeeee hype and SCV had some amazing moments too, Infrit played absolutely great, sticking with his team and doing his thing, mad props to him :D

I play marvel, but the kof finals were so hype, I actually went out and got the game, and haven't touched marvel since. I gotta say, KOF was insanely intense.

Great vid Max, but you shouldn't have limited it to only 5 moments! There were a couple other great moments too. Off the top of my head there was the point in the MK finals where one of the players went to the command list to find out how to do a Fatality which was hilarious, and of course in SC5 where Decopon won the entire tournament with "low tier" Tira.

Saw EVO live. Most hype moments for me (in no particular order): - Combofiend vs F Champ top 8 - All the M.O.D.O.K.s - Infrit's air H rocket punch to go up 2-1 in GF (who uses that, lol) - Chris G's Doom getting hit by sphere flame on his way in. - KOF grand finals (made me want to pick up the game) - All the shit flying on the screen during Flocker vs Infrit top 8 - Ultimate Web Throw on incoming Strider Way more moments during top 32s as well, but can't remember em all.

Yes it was, even top 8 was intense and it all culminated in one of the best Grand Finals at this EVO and maybe some other EVOs, seeing that live was pretty intense, the energy and tension in that room was electric and people felt it on the stream and this isnt the opinion of KOF fans i've seen marvel fans saying the same

Dieminion vs Fuudo in AE when he eliminated Fuudo was super hype. And when Seth hopped on the mic for top 8.

I am an ssf4 ae player, never played UMvC or KOF but KOF looks fun as hell. haha

kof was my fav though i only saw the final....the skill required to pull off some of those combos in kof is insane possibly some of the most hardest in any fighting game

I think he focused more on the games, since that's what EVO really IS for, and not for proposing, but at least he still showed it at the ending of the vid. It's like a special part of EVO but it's not really about EVO itself.

One of the best evos . Every game was hype. Everyone of them . I hope 2016 does well just for the sake of the fgc. 2 Smash brothers ... really !
