Okay, now the fire hazard in the work shop is over. With this chop saw I save my lungs, time and possibly money when using non abrasive cutting blade instead of a regular abrasive cutting disc. The cut is more accurate and the cut surface needs almost no deburring. This video shows the first impressions on the saw - I have no long-term experience with it yet. I will do another video when I have had more hours of work on it. Thanks for watching!
This saw was provided for me by Evolution Power Tools.

I use one of these chopsaws everyday at work. If you go through the steel at a sensible speed the blades last a lot longer than the claimed 20 times longer than an abrasive blade. I had one of these blades in for 7 months and used it everyday until I had 2 days off work and some idiot was cutting steel too fast with too much pressure on the blade so I had to change it when I got back to work. The trick is to let the saw do the work and cut at it’s own speed with gentle pressure on the blade and the blades will almost last forever. These saws are Awesome !

Nice. Now people don’t have to be worried about you burning down your shop. It is nice that Evolution sent you the “blue” model instead of the “yellow/orange” one. Yours has the cast metal base instead of the stamped metal base that some people complain about. A big improvement over your grinder cuts. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

chips are looking awful hot/molten around the 4:00 mark.. is the blade still good? wonder if it was too much feed pressure or if it just shouldnt cut this much without a break to cooldown at the halfway point maybe manually spray some coolant on the larger cuts like these

sounds like simple project, filter/ recycle the coolant hopefully dislike coolant being dumped down the drain i have the 10" evo cold cut saw and ive noticed it doesnt like thick round stock.. heavy square tubing is fine.. only reason i see for this is clamping variations.. so i recommend making sure you put all itll suffer into clamping stock down to get consistent tests

A liquid coolant would make a mess, use a dry lubricant such as foxfirelubricant.com/ there are others out these, this is just one
@Faulpelz55
@Faulpelz55 5 жыл бұрын
Andrew Browner The problem is not the way you clamp it. The blade cuts a curve into stock metal. There is no possibility for the chips to get out of the cut. When cutting tube the blade makes two cuts and the chips get out of the way easily. For a cooler cut and a longer blade life, just interrupt the cut a couple times, let the blade turn freely and cool itself down. For round stock with this diameter, I would recommend to cut it in at least 8 portions with about 8-10 seconds of cool down time between. But that’s valid for all types on chop saws when you cut into thick material. You do the same when drilling holes into soft wood. Otherwise there will be too much friction between the chips and the blade/drill bit.
@Mikeyfix
@Mikeyfix 4 жыл бұрын
I have used a 14" Evolution chop saw for years and love it, when I figured out the reason why it cuts steel so well (slow speed) I took a table saw and slowed the blade to 1700 rpm and with a cheap 71/4" 40 tooth carbide ($10:00) wood blade. I can cut steel almost as fast as wood with all the accuracy that's built in the table saw. Nobody has this on KZfaq. This will be the next best tool you will use

@Tibor Uray hello, how much cutting depend of what you cut and how... It's suposed to cut only max thickness: 6mm ! More thickness make the blade overheat and kill it dam fast... You also have to limit the pressure on the blade when thickness is max or over, again overheat problems... If you respect this, it last very long, and the cut is so fast, nice and doesn't heat steel, it's a need to have machine. But it has it's limit, ignore it and you can buy blades by 10! 😄
@markrainford1219
@markrainford1219 3 жыл бұрын
@@Feub69 Is it though? The green blades say max 3mm, the orange blades say 6mm, but the blue don't specify a maximum thickness at all.

I have that same saw. It is absolutely excellent. Mine had the switch in the handle go bad. Their customer service was outstanding. You’ll be very happy with that saw. Don’t cheap out on the blades. Get the evo blades. Also, do be careful cutting small pieces. I cut a piece of 5/8” square bar and the little chunk got caught up into the guard, between it and the blade. It was wedged in there and cracked the guard. Took it apart, got the piece out. Everything still working great.

Having used both a metal chop saw and a band saw in a machinist shop work I still prefer the bandsaw. Yes they can be a bit more bulky and can take up space, but with them you can run a cutting coolant to prolong the life of the blade. Where with a chop saw I've seen coolant used on them and warp the blade. And they can qet very expen$ive. Milwaukee brand makes a 'PORTA-BAND' saw that in many cases are much better option to a chop saw.
@ivannekic1722

True, i sold my cold cut saw and im getting bandsaw, to expensive cuts for me. They tell you that saw last 20 abrasives, but not tell you that you need to resharpening it. Period from sharp blade to dull is life time of one abrasive blade and abrasive blade is cheaper than resharping cold cut saw. I will buy bandsaw whitout coolant system (much cheaper) then add collant system by my own.

I was willing to buy one until I saw the price of replacement blades. Some guys seem to get good length of time on them but then I see guys go dull after chopping for a week or 2. Especially thick stock the retains the heat and traps the blade between. Like your solid round bar. The ones here in the U.S are a little different but I can't see them more than a color change. I don't know, I've gotten burned trying the new fad and then it dries up with nmo support. My shop is small and I do custom work so my profit is pretty tight. I should have jumped on the yt train to get all the free stuff though I don't like owing anyone even if it's a kind word. Billy Beane we sell the saw, I’ve only had one blade come back early and the guy (a professional fabricator) bought another when he dropped it off as the first lasted 8 months, he never mentioned it again after a sample of what he was cutting was requested to see why it had dulled so quickly. In my experience it’s usually the squidgy human bit operating the tool that causes the problem.

Sorry for that. I skipped the cutting part while editing with my headphones on. Watched the whole cutting bit through after uploading and publishing the video. Then it was already too late. I stepped on my own rake, so to say, and had to use sign language when talking to my wife in the evening. :D

I have one in my Knife Making shop..I purchased the stainless cutting blades. I bought a spare blade convinced it would fail quickly. I have never had to change blades. Very impressive! I cut mostly ATS-34 and 154-CPM with it. Very tough steels! KnifeMaker

Hi, I was watching saw and it seemed spectacular to me that I love working with metals, it would make my job easier and it would save time since I would not have to clean the cut edges very much. I would like to know if I can get it in Lima Peru.

Your going to kill your blade sawing square tubing like that! Those sparks are from the blade trailing edge friction. TCT welded inserts on the blade will chip easily with this style of cutting.

I would stay away from those saws because the blades are so expensive, get a bandsaw with liquid cooling.. those blades will last a long time because they don’t get that hot.Besides the circular metal saws throw chips all over the place which are dangerous. A trip to the hospital is very expensive.

the things a pos. I just threw mine away. I don't recommend this brand to anyone. Mine ate blades and they couldn't be resharpened because the blades were always cracked. When I contacted the company they told me it was my fault because I had too much vibration. Saw had bad bearings and they refused to stand behind the product. The casing cracked and parts fell off.

Hi Donn. I have 2 or 3 questions for you. 1 Do you really have a method of cutting with this kind of saw? How long is it before you dress it up? and you cut almost anything and any size and cut it long. Because I just bought a blade which has a max of 4200rpm and my saw is 3500 rpm I cut 5 pieces of 2 '' round tube and 5-6 cuts in 1x1 1/8 square tube and the that does not cut again. THE big question is in your opinion is it worth it kind of saw which is quite expensive or a band saw which is much larger. excuse my english i am french canadian thank's .

Yay! I was thinking of a cut-off tool every time I see you use a grinder to cut stock. Not only will you now get faster cuts, but will save you time when you carefully lay out cut marks on each side of a tube, etc. And the cut is so clean and straight with so little effort. I hope you enjoy each slice.
