I wanted to write the same thing. Usually his videos are well researched and balanced, but he glossed over SO many technologies, companies, people and stepping stones just to quickly get to the ad half, that it REALLY stood out. I mean... there were notable predecessors to CRTs. Plasma not even appearing. Passive matrix was HUGE on notebooks for quite some time. But even when just emphasizing on LCD: TN/VA/other approaches to LCD screens - at least mention these things. Backlighting differences, especially regarding OLED. And so much more I kept thinking: "Surely he'll address that next" - but didn't. And also... a Chinese phone software "actively analyzing my screen activity" - LOOOOOOL! Yeah, THAT's what people crave! XD Imho this video should best be taken offline and quickly forgotten about. As much as I love Dagogo - this was probably one of his weakest works for years. (And I've been watching since there was another "s" in the channel name.) Next to no news to many, and too shallow for those who are young enough to have seen something new to them here.

@@Rbalaj1 Everyone knows the description message. My point was that making an educational video with a sponsor messege of the the same subject is a conflict of interest. Because you can't offer as much information as possible and be unbiased if conflicts with the sponsor message or undermines it. For example: where is the info on today's display tech or emerging future display tech in this video? It doesn't get mentioned to avoid undermining the promoted product. That's the conflict of interest here. It's not what is being said, it's what *isn't* .

I am perfectly happy to see a Xiaomi sponsored video in one of my top favorite channels. However, one small gripe I have, Xiaomi doesn't actually manufacture or develop the technology for the screens, these will have come from either Tianma or Samsung, probably even LG also. Kudos to them for bringing a better approach to adaptive brightness control and pushing various reading modes, but this is not their credit for creating these awesome high-refresh rate displays. Before anyone get the idea of me not liking Xiaomi much, I have bought 4 Xiaomi phones with my own money in this lifetime. Compared to 1 Samsung, 1 Huawei and 3 Nokia phones.

I think this video should have a sequel that expands on many topic areas that were either under explored here or not even mentioned. Backlighting/passive lighting: There is a LOT to talk about here. Every display tech has to manipulate light. Either that is ambient light or light that it generates itself. CRTs have a phosphor that glows when hit by the electron beam, early LCDs just reflected (or not) ambient light (useless in the dark), projectors use a single bulb to shoot light through an LCD element, newer LCDs use either cold cathode tubes or LED arrays to generate light, plasma and OLED emit light at a per-pixel basis, same with emerging LED displays (not to be confused with LED backlit displays). Display types: Many types were not mentioned: Plasma, projection (both rear projection and projectors that hit a reflective screen), monochrome CRTs (all green or all amber), large signs that use grids of light bulbs (jumbotron), vacuum florescent displays (emit their own light!), LED segment displays etc...No mention of TN vs. IPS vs. VA for LCDs. Resolution: The ever increasing resolution throughout time would have been very interesting to chart alongside the changing underlying tech.
