its a shame how almost all the older R* games had better fighting system than GTA V. the awkward melee combat in GTA V was one of the turn offs for me

You forgot to show in manhunt where you can use a really powerful movement without a weapon where you would grapple, headbutt, punch in the face, and knee kick to the head which the hunters are also able to use on you without a weapon and it does a lot of damage and could knock you or the opponent out if one of you is really close to having little to no health. That’s honestly a really powerful fighting movement out of all the other rockstar games, along with The Warriors where you got way more combos that you can use and throw your opponents across from you and the controls to using those combos are honestly really hard to remember which is why I don’t play the game a lot, and Bully where you really have some badass combos that you can learn from the Hobo at the school by getting him every transistor all over bullworth and the wrestling moves from the gym teacher by attending all of his gym classes with controls that aren’t so hard to remember. Also Niko Bellic’s fighting skills are so much better than all of the other GTA protagonist’s put together since his skills came straight from him being in the military.

Imo : I hope gta6 will have a mix of gta4, l.a noir, rdr2. Realistic and various animations (not right punch most of the time, without targetting any game in particular), many possibities (grab then throw or hit, why not elbow and knee strikes ( possibly as gta4 knee strikes triggered by being close to the opponent), parry or dodge...) Like rdr2 : But not only having to keep pushing a button to parry or dodge, gta4 is cool about it : keep pressing to parry ( and loosing a few amount of life), press at good timing to dodge. Btw, it's cool that we recover half our life with the time in gta5 Being able to kick when we want to Being able to push the opponent during fight, not only to grab then throw him The variety of fighting styles of gta sa is great too And a system a bit more like ac2 could be good ( when holding someone, we can choose to headbutt, punch or knee strike, that style of varity we can choose)

(imo) Victor Vance fighting style is the best one because it comes across as a trained combat fighter (like niko) but also feels like there's real power behind it. (Him being able to toss people around and snap their necks etc). Gta san andreas had potential to have the best fighting style in my book if they were all combined. I kinda don't like the idea of having to travel across the three islands to relearn the fighting styles. if they had just made it so by the end of the game cj could learn all 3 fighting styles and they were combine then gta sa would have the greatest fighting style in gta history...(again imo 🤣)😊

I hope gta 6 fixes the hand to hand combat system. 5 was god awful and a massive downgrade from 4. I hope they have something similar to gta San Andreas system where you could learn different styles along with RDR 2’s realism. I also hope they bring the fight club back !!
