Early police uniforms look so dapper and classy. Being from the UK I miss the very early police uniforms, but I suppose both the US and UK uniforms are a lot of more suited to practicality now than the style.

At least most Police Departments have dress uniforms that are worn in formal settings that resemble the old ones from back in the day! And in the US a lot of state police uniforms still have a traditional look to them

Style should still try to be maintained. The old British police uniforms were designed to be respectable and slightly intimidating, making the officers appear taller. Nowadays they look like traffic wardens

Crazy how we went from basically unarmed to literal mounted machine guns. Nowadays, I carry a Sig P320, Sig M400, and Remington 870.

Police have been militarized from day one; that first pic the officer is wearing a surplus Calvary uniform, and the 1910 pic they have a crew operated belt fed machine gun. It’s only a problem now because suddenly, thanks to traitors passing unConstitutional gun laws that citizens can’t keep up.

Most of that was localized to major metropolitan cities til the post 2000s, and even now most local small community LEOs dinae have’militarized” gear.
