i must say tobias is one of the best voice changers ive ever seen, from papa 1-2 hes able to make himself sound really old. and from papa 3 and onwards he uses his normal tone.

When I first saw the face paint I was thinking in the style of Cradle of Filth or Early Marilyn Manson. Then I heard the vocal and thought Panic at the Disco.

Same, My cousin mentioned/described ghost to me and I thought it was gonna be a screamo/death metal band but years later, I heard Kiss The Goat (and a few other songs) and I immediately loved Ghost. Haven’t felt attracted to a voice that way since I first heard Peter Steele...and Morrissey

Bands like Repugnant are a dime a dozen, though they did it well. Ghost, love them or hate them they are doing their own thing. Maybe comparable to King Diamond but both those groups are unique within their genre. As for me I always related them more with Blue Oyster Cult from Hell.

So what I learned was no matter what time period, what genre or style, Tobias was a genius.

Early ghost Tobias sang with much more of a musical/opera style voice, pushing back in his throat for a really round sound. And more recently he switched back to the more pop kind of tone, more like the one he used while doing subvision.

I think it's because he wanted to make his voice sound like an old pope, but I think he changed his tome of voice when he became papa 3 because the Papa's get younger as time goes on.

from personal experience Year Zero is the best one live, it's like, idk, the song is great and everybody joins in the singing, I love seeing them live but Year Zero is usually the best part.

Talented musician and one hell of an entertainer. There's both. There are talented musicians that can play perfectly but are just not good at captivating audiences. And there's people who can do the latter but are just mediocre musicians. Few people can combine that.

Tobias has definitely paid his dues in the music industry. He is brilliant! I'm not sure about the happenings of his band mates I think some have come and gone but I have much respect for them all. Ghost is phenomenal!!!!

The progression, and persistence and hard work lead to a VERY polished voice along with the band as well. The most recent years of Ghost are amazing and its nice to see the roots of it all. Thanks.

I’m so happy that Ghost gets the recognition they deserve and continue to grow. My friend made me a mix CD in 2013 with Year Zero on it and I’ve been buying albums day one since. Happy Birthday Tobias

Dance Macabre is the only 'pop' song they've written, and even than I'm 99% the music video for it would likely end in a satanic orgy had the story continued, or something equally sacrilegious. Heard Square Hammer at like 1130 pm at work on the radio, normally that station only ever played dance macabre.

I hate saying that ghost is metal. I feel it gives the implication of long hair, head banging and screaming and ghost is much classier than that. They are theatrical and ceremonial, and hold such a mysterious atmosphere

I LOVE seeing Tobias in Repugnant and the other bands he was in. He is very talented and I love GHOST. So he's 38 yrs old now? The last part of this video shows Tobias talking on a French talk show, you can't hear Tobias over the French overdubs, BUT, I had seen when he came onto the set for the show one of the guys at the table hadn't shaken his hand after Tobias had stretched his hand out to him, the guy snubbed him, or "left him hanging" as we in the USA would say. Tobias has a very unique voice, and , he can hold a note long enough to give you chills, I just heard this now on the video as he sang "Cirice" LIVE and held that note so long and totally knocked me on my ass. In the recorded albumn (CD) version you don't hear that long held note. I really like many of the songs in Tobias's former bands. I expected them to be kinda crappy and bland, being bands he just cut his teeth in, BUT, I like them, they were pretty heavy and melodic at the same time. I would imagine they were successful in Europe at least. Here in the USA we hadn't heard alot of metal after the 80's and early 90's. Unless you had a favorite band and really LOOKED for that bands new albumns or CD';s you would'nt KNOW what was new in metal, at least for me, I was a poor person without cable TV working Full time, I missed so much new music. ANYHOW, I now am hearing Ghost and several of Tobias's former bands, and, it seems that Tobias has several other bands that sound great, and I will enjoy hearing them all over time.
