I bought this saw about two months ago and I just love it! I agree with everything said in the video. I have used to for a number of small projects, but once the workshop is finished, it will be used a lot more. Just waiting for the Rage5-S table saw to get back into stock and that will be mine too.

Hi Dan. Thank you for your in depth demonstration, you've just won Evolution a sale and yourself a subscriber. I've been looking to purchase this type of saw for a while now. Your demo and user operational tips won the day. Not only that, you have some very good how to videos on plumbing related topics and tools to also help me. Thank you. Tony

Great job on your review. I have a lot of experience with several kinds of metal saws. At the end of the cut, let the saw come to a complete stop before lifting the head up. They are prone to chipping the carbide teeth on the upswing when still rotating. Of course, I am referring to cutting metal. Just a hint to help your blade live long. Thanks for your review.

Would this model be able to cut through a 120mm x 240mm cedar wood sleeper at a 45 mitre angle? I can see it will need to take two or more cuts to do it but the clearance from the slide rail gives me concerns. No one stocks these mitre saws locally, so its difficult to tell even with your clear video angles on other less deep materials. Thank you.

As a none bias result you've been honest But..... This is the go to communal chop saw they use on every industrial/commercial job I've been on , gets hammered day in day out by novice users on uni strut Dado , tray , trunking , rod , wood etc and People literally slam down the blade on materials, throw it about, gets left in the rain , gets covered in dust and metal fillings and still survives a year to two year jobs All the makita , dewalt ones the blades or there holder always use to end up being wonky and the blades need changing all the time The evolution blades last very long It's the fairest price I personally think its the best It's light weight It has loads of different attachments I can't think of any faults to it I'd give it a 10/10

not viewed your videos before, its a great vid very in depth showing off the saw and all its fantastic features, i am seriously thinking of buying the double bevel variant of what you have reviewed mainly because the 355mm lacks this which would be nice to see in the future, ive used the 355mm chop saw for about 2-3 years its fantastic for quality cuts The orange multi purpose blades are good despite only really being for general purpose, for the average user lifespan of blades wont be an issue cutting wood with odd nails, pvc or very light mild steel now and then. However if your like me intend on cutting wood and a lot of metal to get the most for your money it is worth getting a collection of blades for each individual material you are going to cut and change them to their material accordingly as you go this really makes a massive difference to their life-cycle in comparison to the multi purpose blade. All i can say is beware of aluminium and stainless steel with the multi purpose blade, it will not last long at all you absolutely need the right blades for these especially.

Woodworking Beginner: Update. This test is only if you want to saw with precision with a miter saw.(test is not intended for rough and hard work). Tips and Test: Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a VERTICAL line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact / Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH / Ridgid MS255SR 10-inch / Evolution Fury3-S / Evolution R255SMS / Metabo HPT C10FSBS / Hitachi C10FSB / Hitachi C10FS. Second optie handle horizontal positioned above the saw blade. / Evolution R185SMS / Evolution F255SMS / Evolution RAGE3R255 SMS3 . (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). (If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed). Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing (test is completed). Step-4. Therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned VERTICAL in line above the saw blade. The second option is the handle positioned HORIZONTAL in line above the saw blade. Step-5. When you measure the vertical 90 degrees angle square (Digital Level Box) of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing.

I've used mitre saws for decades and the horizontal handles do not affect your wrist like the verticle ones do, that said you do need to choose your saw carefully, the best results for accurate compound mitres were from my KGS305. The Evo blades are over priced crap, don't last if using on laminate boards and at over £32 a pop I bought a different brand and fitted a reducer ring to get round Evolution's monopoly from using a different size blade bore. To sum up the Evolution, it's crap.

@DoItAllDan
@DoItAllDan 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on how much you are going to use it, if it's a one time thing I would go with a dedicated laminate flooring hand saw and a cheap jig so you can do precision cuts. If it's on a semi or pro use then I would invest in something a little better as this saw with this blade isn't the neatest at cutting. You can flip the wood over face down and get a better finish but you'll have to weigh up which option is best for you. Hope this helps and thanks for your support 👍🏻

Hi Dan and all subscribers, it’s been over a year since you made this review.. can I ask you and your subscribers, what’s the longevity of this product? Is it still as good as your review states? 😕 I’m a DIY’er and I’m looking to get a good mitre saw, what’s your views on the Ryobi mitre saw over the Evolution mitre saw? 🙂

I still use my saw maybe once a week so not crazy amounts but i have another for on site and this one remains at home in the workshop. The saw still works fine and I have no issues that have arisen as yet. hope this helps

most of 14 metal cutting blades are 1800 rpm max, why this saw has some 2500 rpm? how r u suppose to use all these blades that have 1800 or les rpms?
@Rumouruk
@Rumouruk 4 жыл бұрын
Buy new blades! It is so worth it as the saw is truly multipurpose and the saw blades are a wear item anyway.

This saw is 10 inches hence the 2500 rpm.

My saw blade seems to be turning in the wrong direction. Does the part of your blade closest to you rotate up or down. Mine go downwards. Seems wrong to me.
@DoItAllDan
@DoItAllDan 3 жыл бұрын
There's an arrow on the blade to show direction 👍🏻👍🏻
@chadwickwicky67
@chadwickwicky67 3 жыл бұрын
Downward is the right correct way , think about it , if it was going upward , the debris would be flying straight at you. The blade would be pushing towards you. You’d need a fence on the side facing you if the blade spun “upwards”

This is what I'm wondering... my (old with nails so this machine would be brilliant) sleepers are 12.5cm deep and 25cm across... I'm hoping that this will cut if I flip them over?

Do It All Dan. Really?? I’m surprised a joiner would need a saw that cuts metals. First thing they would need to do is change the blade for a better cut, kinda defeats the object of it then, but hey, each to their own. Very well made vid though bud..

Thanks mate, I don't think they will be using it as a main saw when I was on site they were using it for stud walls so I wouldn't say they were worried about neat cuts. I think because it is quite cheap they figured why not 👍🏻 thanks mate
