what is your refining strategy ?!?

@@dopemantra302 I tend to focus more on getting the general (and the refines) useable, as opposed to perfect (20%+). That is because of how differently I view the impact of Time when talking about refining.

You channel (Red Evony) and Signh's channels are my go to for learning. I've used a lot of your strategies to grow my keep and have shared you with my alliance. We are all very grateful for the time you've both spent putting out content.

Hmm... could you elaborate? I'm interested in your perspective. In my opinion, the proper math is: 11 skills can be rolled. Attack skills can be flat or %, so that's 15 skills. So it's 1/15 to land the desired skill in the example, range attack %. then if we break down the % into brackets of 5%s, we we have a 1/5 chance of landing above 20%. so that's (1/15) * (1/4). Then you mulitply that times the number of open slots you are rolling for. My argument is - do not lock early, be greedy for high refines while you have more slots to work with and stick to your minimums in order to not have to reroll in the future.

@@evonysingh7114 What I'm unsure of is that there is an equal chance to land any value within the possible range of a skill in any particular roll -- i.e. that there is an equal 1/5 chance that a roll will land in any particular fifth bracket for whatever skill. If that were the case, the chance of a slot rolling BELOW the top bracket would be 4/5. If you have four slots unlocked, the chance of ALL of them rolling below the top bracket is 4/5 x 4/5 x 4/5 x 4/5 = 0.4096, and conversely the probability that ANY ONE of the four slots rolls within the top bracket is 0.5904, so slightly more often than not. In reality, rolls in the top bracket are rare altogether, suggesting that the probability of a roll landing in the top bracket is much lower than the probability of it landing on any of the other four. Not exactly surprising given that Evony wants you to drop mad coin for refine stones. This doesn't change your advice, if anything it makes it more crucial because high rolls are harder to get, but if I'm right then the chance of rolling a 20%+ ranged attack on a fresh Ares/Acha bow is significantly lower than 5%, and the average number of refine stones required to perfect a piece of gear is much higher than 33k. What would be interesting to find out is if there is any merit to the idea floating around that slots with high values (regardless of what skill is there) yield higher valued rerolls, because that would affect the strategy for optimal refining.

@@Starprizm got to concur with Bruno. Singhs advice is sound. Evony has their fingers on the scale. And why wouldn't they? I wish I could believe it's just a random number generator on the back end. Everyone in my alliance would kill to have the random distribution but the anecdotal evidence suggests it's always more than these logical statistics would suggest. And thanks Singh for this content. It is worthwhile understanding even if Evony has their finger on the refining scale.

I have it somewhat written out here: 1/16 chance to land Range Attack % when refining. 1/5 chance to land in the 20-25% bracket. This means there is a (1/16) x (1/5) = 1/80 chance to get a range attack % of 20% - 25% when refining for 1 slot at a time. If you are refining for 4 open slots at the same time, that is (1/80) x 4 = 1/20 chance of getting a range attack % of 20% - 25%. So that's 20 attempts x 200 refines = 4,000 refines. 3 open slots = (1/80) x 3 = 1/26.66 chance. 26 attempts on average, 5,333 refines. 2 open slots = (1/80) x 2 = 1/40 chance. 40 attempts = 8,000 refines on average. 1 open slot = 1/80 = 80 attempts = 16,000 refines on average.

@@TheSistersGoShopping i dont care how many refine stones you have, trust me you will always need more. Do not bother to refine anything other than civ, ach, and ares gear. Not even dragon gear, maybe, maybeeeee refine dragon gear a bit, if you cant make ares or ach gear, but dont overdo it, in the long run ares, ach, and civ. Thats the gear you're going to use on your general.

There's lots of theories about this man, I wish I knew the answer 100%. Generally I can say one thing for sure - FLAT numbers are better for lower tier troops, and % is better for top tier troops. Generally speaking, higher tier ground troops tends to perform better on defense and offense. I'd prefer % over flat for ground troops.

Hey brother - this is a bit complicated - the right answer is. It depends. Generally speaking, % is better. If your'e attacking with lower tiers, such as a T11 siege rally, it can make sense to use flat refines. For range / cav / ground attacking general - % is better. for wall general, you can maybe accept some flat siege attack, and maybe some flat cav hp. Otherwise, I recommend all %.

But even this depends on what type of keep you're building - some folks are 10b power and tons of cav layers and would need flat cav hp to protect layers. Some folks are 400m power and are "ground keeps" so they don't use too much cav hp. It depends.
