Holy **! His amount of stamina / endurance to play so flawlessly for such a long duration blows me away.. all different techniques he uses: palm mute, slides, hammer-on's, percussion, natural harmonics, and lots and lots of 1/16 notes, many barre chords, not to mention on steel strings, all this while maintaining an even tempo!
@Daniel-wz9sd9 жыл бұрын
***** Check out Ocean by John Butler. It's a 12 minute long song and he uses many, many different tempos/techniques the entirety of the song. Considering you like this, I can imagine you'd like this one :)

no... most anyone can understand how great his music is, and that the complexity level is if I were to grade it... a high 6
@adolpholiverbush210 жыл бұрын
"those of you who do not play MAY not grasp how complex...." is what I wrote. My experience is that non-musicians do not understand the technical difficulty involved. As for how "great" his music is, YES, most anyone can understand that. As for your grading it a 6, that's your take on it. I'd put it higher, and I studied classical in college with 30 years of playing under my belt, so I know my way around a difficult piece. Some of Ewan's other pieces are even more technically challenging.

I can't believe how creative some people are. Like, I could try for half of my life to produce one truly amazing song such as this and that would be a great achievement for me. Where as people like Ewan Dobson and many others just pump out this amazing material like it's nothing. Obviously I know they put a lot of effort in but Ewan is a prime example of how someone can produce this stuff constantly and consistently. And that by itself is mind boggling to me, once I factor in the skill required to play these songs, my head starts to burst at the seems.
@adolpholiverbush210 жыл бұрын
Me too, man. He's amazing. I can play, some might make the mistake of saying I play well. Then I think to myself....there's Ewan, Chet Atkins, Segovia, Shawn Lane, Tommy Emmanuel and many MANY other "Oh shit" guitarists.
@SomeDudeOnline9 жыл бұрын
***** False, you cannot flap your wings and fly like a bird no matter your mindset or how passionate you are. Likewise not everyone can be as creative as Ewan Dobson. There have been dozens of occasions when I convinced myself that I could sit down and write a great song, spent hours and got nothing. There are other scenarios that play out as well. I'm currently in the process of writing a song that has an intro that I love, and it's been two months since I started this song and I've made no progress in the past month despite the hours I've put in trying to come up with something. You could make the argument that anyone who isn't disabled can play as well as someone like Ewan Dobson with motivation and determination and I can't argue against that. But you can't argue that anyone can be as creative as Ewan Dobson.
@SomeDudeOnline9 жыл бұрын
***** You said it yourself, some are more creative than others. You also said, "in my experience". Well my experience is not your experience. And for the first 5 years or so I had the positive mindset. So that isn't the issue. Also the way you quoted the time I've spent trying to write implies I haven't spent that time. I have, arguing against me on that is trivial because you don't and can't know.
@SomeDudeOnline9 жыл бұрын
EDIT: It seems I didn't state how much time I've put into trying to write. I thought I had said something along the lines of "I've spent several hours a day for a period of months to attempt to produce one song and have gotten no-where. And in some cases an entire song flows out in just an hour." I haven't simply tried to write a song in a few hours over the course of several months. I've been playing for 12 years and have collectively spent a lot of time in those twelve years trying to create music. I think to date, I've written 3 acoustic/classical songs and 4 electric songs. Only two of the acoustic/classical songs and 2 of the electric songs am I very satisfied with. With the above being said, I misunderstand nothing. And when I said hours and months I was referring to attempts on individual songs rather than my entire experience. And to be clear, hours in a single day is not comparable to a grain of sand on a beach. I'm sorry you're wrong in this case, but you are. I've been playing consistently for 12 years as stated above, I think I'm more aware of my own capabilities than you. This is the important part: The reason your experience and observation shows that use of the 'creative muscle' enhances it and allows you to master it is because you reject input such as mine that disagrees with your previous experience and observations. If you're truly judging everyone's abilities based on your experience AND observation then you would take my experience as one of your observations into account and know that not everyone has the ability. There are outliers in all facets of life, and in this case I am one of those outliers.

The hat he is wearing looks like a lamp shade. However, it is worn because it captures the music and channels harmonic frequencies directly into his skull to better help keep track of every pick action and finger movement over the frets. This is needed as result of his lightning fast talent to play at such speed. The wrist band is a specially made containment device to help keep his wrist from exploding as his fingers pick away on the strings under great tension and force in order to produce excellent sound at great picking speed. All this to produce good music that everybody likes and enjoys. To Ewan Dobson; Thank you for playing timeless music. I just spent an hour listening to a good number of your music videos.
