As a computer/vintage computer enthusiast first, scrapper second, I'd be in my absolute element with this pickup, like a kid in a candy shop! I was naming and pricing the various cards and parts as you were picking them up! Some money to be made there if you can afford the time and don't need a fast turnaround!

I love these kind of pick ups. You never know what you're going to find. Of course, it is a lot of work, but can be a lot of fun finding hidden gems. Fortunately,, I don't have to cut the ends of my wire. That would drive me nuts.

Hi Ben if I lived close by I would offer to help you free of charge because you are so knowledgeable about computers just listening and learning from you would be payment enough! I love stripping wires so that would be right up my alley ! I would love to have your problem/ nightmare. It's a good one to have . Wow, what a load, I'd be thrilled with it but equally as daunted about the sheer amount of time consuming itty bitty work if it were my load. However, this is when I get gutted I'm the other side of the world and my circumstances aren't different because I would love to come and sort and micro scrap that time consuming little stuff to get max value while you crack on with the scrap marathons! That was a Huge Pickup - I can see You making some Good Money here at the Scrap Yard - the Cables and Wires alone - nah - You could NOT Refused this Job - even if You spend 2 Hours loading Your Van - hey - remember its FREE and we like FREE ! Well done and yes You have to spend some Hours sorting and stripping etc - I think it was worst while and You will find the odd Gem here and there as well ! Will You do a Stripping Session for Us on some of the Equipment ? Cheers from QLD !!!!

I just picked up a van load of direct tv boxes, along with the power supplies for them. About 100 cable boxes.

I found that a paper cutter makes quick work out of IDE cables. Nice job Ben. Another 40 hours of work to do but still a good pick up.

You can tell that was a mid 90s computer shop, cables galore, back when cables were the biggest seller and people did not want to get rid of them, thinking that someday there would be a use for them. I had a person drop off the contents of an old computer shop with a lot of stuff equal to that, including many sealed sound cards. My garage was packed to the brim for over a year, then it all got turned into dollars.

Not sure if I should laugh or cry - when Ben called the av switch junk at 38:14... I've got a few consoles hooked up to my tv, as well as a Magnavox vcr+dvd recorder. The only way I was able to make this work was to buy 2 switches (nearly) identical to the one in this video, last year. The only real difference is mine are made with a translucent frosty blue plastic. And these things are getting harder to find, back then I had to pay $15 each, + shipping, on eBay. At least I was able to buy both from the same seller, so that saved a few bucks on the shipping charges.

The Compaq and any other vintage ones of that era would be great to resell. Even broken they can go for a bit, depending on model/spec/condition and type.

I wish I could do this. I go to the recycler & want to get a bunch of stuff for free, but I bite by tongue & maybe only get 1 or 2 things. I just don't have the space at home & I am also a little wary of bedbugs & other creatures that could be crawling in other people's electronics that you also take home with you.
