This is the first movement of Eric Ewazen's "Sonata for Trombone and Piano" from my recital at the University of Texas, Arlington, in June 2011. My wonderful accompanist is Nataliya Sukhina. Hope you enjoy!

I love this piece a million times over. It's like a beautiful sunrise over a beach. The ending is so emotional too, as if one begins to be overcome with sorrow and heartache and sings out in pain as he struggles to understand, but as he ponders, he is reminded of something that gives him hope and is once again filled with encouragement as he looks forward to a bright future.
