► Former footballers are three and a half times more likely to die from dementia than the general population.
Experts from Glasgow University have been investigating whether heading the ball could be linked to brain injuries. It was prompted after former West Brom striker, Jeff Astle died from dementia caused by repeated blows to the head.

@The Truth seeming as your "the truth" let's hear your solution? Thier basing the stats on men that are now in thier 50s 60s and 70s that now have dementia. The footballs then were heavier then what they are now. There making this programme when "the truth" is that fifa have helped the problem as much as they can by making footballs as light as possible.

Most of these footballers consumed more alcohol than they played football. They were smokers and lived freely. How come you have non sporting people or people who never played with dementia. So then people (men and women) to stop playing football and we can watch granny knit on a Saturday instead of football.
