Photographer Steven Burton took photos of tattoo-covered ex-gang members. He then digitally removed the tattoos to show them the difference, recording their reactions to the amazing differences.

Most likely if they're gang related. Tattoos for a lot of them are associated with prison or a life of crime. But don't confuse that with other non criminal people who happen to be covered in tattoos because they like the art, it's pretty unlikely for them to regret theirs.

I'm turned buddhist too. Glad to hear you found yourself. I love the way of life of the buddhist people. Taking care for eachother, being humble, caring for animals, ... I changed because every time in entered a buddhist temple or i saw monks meditating or chanting, i would get shivers on my whole body and cheeks and a energy around my face that i could describe like xtc. I think tattoos are stigmatized based on the culture and the tattoos themselves. If the tattoos had more of a mythical or fantastic idea behind them, instead of some pop culture icons or graphics or bad connotations, no one would care.

struggle snuggle Maybe cheap isn't the right word to use in this context. In my launguage cheap can mean something like shallow / stupid. So self expression is not bad but imo tatoos are a "cheap" way of showing your person. However that is not to say that all people who have tatoos are stupid or shallow.

I think part of the stigma comes from the fact that the ink is chosen in part to remove oneself from the mainstream. Those who outwardly reject the mainstream are usually rejected by it in return. Unfortunately, a lot of times, extreme tattoos are chosen when people are young, too young to wrap their heads around what it will mean to have certain doors closed to them for the rest of their lives (or until the tattoos are removed, but that's expensive).

Sure you dont have to. But Chris is right, even when his example wasnt the best. It isnt the smartest thing to facetat yourself. I dont say every person regrets it, but even in the "Rapbizz" people think twice before getting a tattoo on the face. And Rappers in General are not the most intelligent group on the planet. In most cases it looks stupid, and makes your life harder. when a tattooartist gets it.. i think everyone is ok with it, but in most cases its not a smart decision.

People with tattoos aren’t that smart either. You don’t see a lot of CEOs and doctors with them.
