Part 2: • Roger Bonds on Survivi...
Roger Bonds sat down for his first-ever VladTV interview, and Shawn Prez started off speaking about their longstanding friendship. Roger started off speaking about growing up in Harlem on 155th Street, and he explained that his parents had five kids between them. Roger added that his life began when he was 12 and realized that his father wasn’t coming home, which led to him getting heavy in the street life. Shawn pointed out that Roger was known as a “thorough street dude,” and Roger went on to speak about having a rough time when he was living with his parents in the home. He added that this led to him wanting to be out of the home and in the streets.
Moving along, Roger talked about growing up in the Polo Grounds projects during the crack era before explaining his fascination with gun culture. Roger reveals that he earned his name "Bonds" do to his proficiency with a firearm and his admiration for the famous James Bond character. This prompts his long-time friend, Shawn Prez, to admit that even he didn't know Bonds wasn't his real name. Moving along, Roger talks looks back on his days as a drug dealer before sharing some of the tactics that he used to lead his crew. Lastly, Roger spoke about knowing Rich Porter and Alpo Martinez, who he pointed out were in high school when they were getting big money in the streets. When asked about Rich Porter's death, Roger revealed that he was locked up when he heard the news, and he added that he wasn't surprised when he heard that Alpo was behind his death.

I had both parents and both were unemotional non attached and abusive both verbally and mentally, my mom is a food and gambling addict my father was a alcoholic. I would of been much better off with one or the other but you don’t get to choose your situation. I just go to therapy and pray for patience and the ability to correct my mistakes in the future.

Bonds is like all the older brothers that I grew up with in NYC. I aint know bonds. Definitely seen him in Harlem before, but my older mans knew him and all the young boys that were getting money in Harlem in the 80s and early 90s. I say that to say this: We gotta stop glorifying calling these types heroes. They are not heros or to be admired. They are the vessels that were used to destroy generations of black people. Yeah, it's really just that simple. I was around all of this shit. These are not heroes. No disrespect to Bonds or none of them. But we gotta be honest.

It’s sad to hear him say “I was only coming home because my father was there” …”the day my father stopped coming home I took to the streets” The system is designed to separate fathers from families in the black community. You take the man out the house/put him in jail or prison just so a woman has to raise her kids alone and if not by the grandparents. On top of that they push alcohol, drugs and guns into our lower income communities and let it all play out! Much respect to everyone in the struggle

What he just admitted here was that even though he had a father in the home, he didn't actually have a father in the home. Turns out in order to be a father you have to do more than just come home at night after banging your wife's sister. He didn't come from a two-parent household, he came from a one-parent household where a dude came home and slept each night until he got tired of it. Get real bro. You're right in one way but this guy isn't the example of it. This guy is the exact example of a broken home and the effects of it.

It's funny, they constantly rattle on about the influence of raps on black and brown youth...but what's often ignored is the influence of movies, like scarface and others on perverting the minds of so many young and impressionable black and brown ppl. I watched the Polo Grounds get built. I remember when it was the abandoned stadium and was called Hobo Town . It turned into a very dangerous place and even though I grew up right next to it in Colonial on 159th street there was clearly a big difference between the two developments

I see you use the name Muhammad you grew uptown I was born on 116 and 117 on park Ave in Spanish Harlem I was told as little boy don't go to Lenox Ave on 116st. The temple 7 was there under Malcom x and latter on I joined the nation of Islam under Elijah Muhammad and I used to see brothers from nation in customs made f.o.i. uniforms with Dimond rings at the conventions and saviors day and I was young and stupid in the nation cause I would say to myself those brothers must be selling a lot of Muhammad speaks and bean pies yeah right those brothers were gangsters temple 25 in Newark and temple 12 in Philadelphia so don't be surprised or so self righous what others are doing the nation was built on dirty money let keep it real

@@ronaldbailey8676 The nation wasn’t built on dirty money . Those were just some dirty men. As for Muhammad it is a family name. I’m not using a name.
