What’s amazing is no one reads any of the UN reports or human rights org reports nor do they pay attn to the fact that the Israel Palestine issue is voted on EVERY year and IsraeHELL the US and 3 tiny insignificant islands vote NO or abstain EVERY single year!!! Anyone who pays attn to the reports of Israel breaking the law by continuing to build on Palestinian land & the war crimes they commit every year and the NO vote on two state solution that Palestine agreed to YEARS ago would know IsraeHELL has NEVER EVER been interested in a two state solution!!! We must not forget that Israeli oppression of the Palestinians have been obtained and maintained by force of arms. I'm sure no one in the world believes that the Palestinians could gain their freedom from Israeli oppression, colonialism, apartheid, land grab, calorie restriction, and other crimes against humanity, through polite debates with Netanyahu or other Israeli leaders. The Palestinians are entitled to rise up and gain for themselves freedom, justice and dignity.

I remember when the trailer for the Netflix movie about the Nakba was released people were arguing in the comment section, basically about whether the Nakba ever happened or it's just an "anti-israel" lie, and now we have israeli politician calling for Nakba 2.0. Thank you, Owen, for bringing up what could be the final solution. I think most people, myself included, despite having friends in Jordan, probably didn't know the scope and extremism of the situation before. The reason for much of the world's reaction is their humanity and horror at what they are witnessing, but it sounds like Israel are determined to remove/dehumanise Palestinians, and I don't think it's enough to say that Palestinians need to show a serious front. The inequality between the two is immense, and when one side is wanting to claim total power, more needs to be done to stop the oppression. No wonder there is no ceasefire 😢

It was a country until the Nakba in 1948. After that Britain decided it doesn’t recognise it. The majority of countries in the world recognise it as Palestine 🇵🇸.

Israel did not "receive" statehood in 1948. They declared statehood on May 15. The UN and the rest of the world could have decided not to recognize it. Most countries however, slowly but surely over the next decades, did.

(Recently I commented on another of Owen Jones's videos. It was only the second comment I'd ever posted on KZfaq. Well, what I wrote upset a troll, so now I'm going to make a point of reacting to every one of Mr Jones's videos that I watch.) Thank you, Mr J, for this very informative discussion on the origins of the present catastrophic situation in Gaza and the realities of Israeli politics today. 'No justice, no peace', as they say. With regard to the Palestinians, Israel has never been serious about either justice or peace.

I think it was a bit unfair to say the Palestinians shouldn't have succumbed to a division and instead shown a united front, which would be best in principle, but when they are physically divided and lacking in freedoms others enjoy, it must be hard for Gaza not to have different motivation than the West Bank. Full credit to the Palestinian Ambassador to the UK when he said they represent all Palestinians, despite that division.

Thanks very much, Messrs. Jones and Levy, for a measured, insightful and humane discussion of a crisis so profoundly tragic and, as yet, seeming immune to a solution acceptable to both parties. How terribly sad--and criminal--that so many must suffer so much due to the base motives of a handful of politicians.

Unfortunately, the more the apartheid state has moved to the right, the more it has succeeded in increasing its stranglehold on the so-called democracies of the UK and the US in particular. It has ‘absolute immunity’ from international law, prosecution (even accusations) of its war-crimes, government sanctions, and even foreign government criticism. There can never be a Palestinian state, that is certain. The only questions are how many will be murdered vs expelled and how much of Syria, Lebanon and Jordan will become Israel.

As one who lived in apartheid South Africa: Israel obfuscates at every opportunity, in order to have sufficient time to completely transfer all Gazan and West Bank people's, in order to fully confiscate their lands. Once this is complete, they will press into Jordan, and Syria with the aim of moving towards the 'Greater Israel'. After this comes parts of Egypt, then parts of Saudi Arabia. This is a progressive project. The mindset is one of a superior class which has a sacred messianic duty to reclaim 'lost lands'. They will never stop unless they are chased out of Palestine and back to their former homelands. Mark my words on this.

Palestinians are really "sacrifying" themselves to stop these plans. They could flee that country like many of Roma/Gypsi Syrians did in Syria from 2012 following, leave Syria instead of face the zionistic syrian Terrorgroups. Palestinians did not flee, they remained in resistance, and this way they stopped these plans, but they are suffering, and this suffering is for us, so we can live without that monstrous satanic state of nazionists. We should thank Palestine more then wo are doing, they are stopping these racists to treat us all as worthless "Goyims"...
