Last night in New York City, former Kiss drummer Peter Criss and former guitarist Ace Frehley reunited and shared the stage in honor of notable hard rock and heavy metal DJ Eddie Trunk, and they were helped out by Winery Dogs, members of Anthrax, Bumblefoot of Guns N' Roses, Geoff Tate, Lita Ford, and others.

He liked to party way to much and loved Heroin. He was and did fall apart. Became penniless after KISS due to H. Listen again to the song he wrote while in kISS titled "Black Diamond.'..The name of a Heroin he was using. One of the very best KISS or CRISS songs IMO..." Got you under my thumb."

i broke into tears watching this. Ace and Peter have been such a massive and important part of my life for a very long time, so have Gene and Paul and everybody that's ever been in KISS, but this was fan fucking tastic. They hadn't played together in about 13 years, and they fucking rocked it. Respect to ET for making it possible for this to happen, and for me to be able to see it. Those 2 guys playing together has a unique sound and feel that even KISS can't replicate. No disrespect to KISS either, nobody could EVER replicate the lineup with Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr either. Seeing this means a hell of a lot more to me than seeing a less than brilliant show from the Monster tour.

Frank Patek It's ok Frank. Nigel is confused. It's called a "jam". Jam: just getting together and having some fun. Not auditioning or on tour. They either did or didn't rehearse it before they went on stage. It was a party and if you notice, they all had smiles on their faces. Just jamming and having some fun. Don't know if Nigel plays an instrument but, if he does, a little tip. It's not always about being "serious" especially at this gig. Lighten up a little. No need to be Siskel and Ebert about it.

It's interesting how some will knock rock superstars who are still loved by a huge portion of the public and are very much in demand even as they get older. Frank Sinatra as he aged was not like he was in his prime but could still sell out arenas across the United States. For all who still perform, who love music and their craft,no matter what genre or era your from. Great stuff here! I have loved Ace and Peter since getting into KISS in 1976 at the ripe old age of 7. I saw them in 1979 at The Omni in Atlanta and that show MADE me want to play drums. I have been drumming now for 35 years as I did not get my first set until I was 13. I beat on everything in site until I got the drum set so I guess I can say I have been drumming since the age of 4. Peter Criss and KISS influenced me in a big way and it is beautiful to see Ace and Peter in this video playing together like it was yesterday. Thank you Peter and Ace for showing the world that great music never dies or gets old!

vrguitar, chill out man, I go way back with KISS, one of my favs bands of all time. I have met both ACE and Peter(PeterTwice). Peter was at that time(1980's)was a really nice guy, he was a judge at a Drummer contest at Guitar Center that I was in, i did not win but after the show there was a meet and greet, Peter signed a drum head for me and told me that i was a very good drummer. Now for ACE, met him at the NAMM show years ago,total fucking asshole, he was fucked up and I lost all respect for the guy, everyone was like, what the fuck, your promoting your Guitars and could give a shit about doing business etc. So sad that Peter fucked up with KISS, was very hard to deal with, the drugs ruined him and ACE even fucked him out of money during the reunion tour. So i watch this video and it's really sad how bad ACE sounds and can't sing worth a shit. Peter looks better thank god but these guys are no longer in KISS. KISS is Paul and Gene and Eric and Tommy. That's my point so take it or leave it. Man, we both love KISS so no hard feelings my friend. GG FINN

GG Finn its just so much negativity,man. Ive met Ace too and he was cool. i do think and know drugs have done a lot of damage on both guys, musically and personally but they've been sober for many years now and have turned their lives around. I respect eric and tommy as musicians and some of the past line-ups but its not the same. And i don't want another reunion by any means, it'd just be nice to see them all up there if (hopefully) they get inducted into the R&RHOF, just for the fans. it was painful to watch the van halen and GN'R inductions..so sad. hope this won't be the same. i know we are all here because we love KISS

+DanR67 "Black Diamond" with Pete singing is also great . I guess there is some truth to Peter being a drummer who had great beats,although he needed to be pushed with his musicianship like counting,and song arrangement . Come to think of it ,when is the last time you heard a guitar player count the tempo for the drummer ,"1 2 3 HIT IT!" It's just amazing the kind competition that happens within bands .

I can't believe the number of haters on here (like most comments I suppose). Ace and Peter are simply enjoying a moment. They are NOT in tour shape or well rehearsed. This was done for a private event and was probably whipped up at soundcheck. I dig KISS as much as anyone on here but check out clips of Gene and Paul singing lately. Screaming at nearly falsetto pitch for 40+ years destroys vocal chords. Ace never had an outstanding singing voice but it was unique. Give these guys a break, they are ALL in their mid to late 60's! Thayer & Singer are cabable players and keeps the KISS name touring.

charliepeebles Right ! There was the 4th of July concert under the Brooklyn Bridge ,that put them back on the map ,i remember that one .Funny you say KISS tribute band . I think KISS ARMY is the only "Official" tribute band .In that regard I think Gene Simmons is right. To perform a piece of music publicly and make a profit from it,and NOT pay the recording artist ,is a copyright infringement ,where as, a band is owed royalties . Not just with KISS music ,but with ALL tribute bands . I live in New Jersey,which is "Tribute band capital" of the freakin world .They rake in the money not hundreds ,thousands per show . I write and record , if i were making Gold records ,i would want my far share of that pie too!

Love her All I Can could have made the Reunion/Psycho Circus/Farewell Tour setlist if the band worked on it. Ace and Peter has the basics down. Makes me wonder what other songs they could have done. Paul said in his book that they couldn't change the setlist because Ace and Peter couldn't learn anymore. I don't believe that.
@gajaga789
@gajaga789 7 жыл бұрын
I do. I'm an Ace and Peter guy, but I believe (and Ace has at least admitted) that he's a chronically lazy guy. Peter, bless his heart, plays very good here but has obviously shown some wear. I believe Paul and Gene exaggerate how useless they are, no question. But I also believe there has to be some truth to it, as there are enough interviews with Ace and Peter to get their true sense. Peter played something like Hooligan as a gift to Eddie. Not that he couldn't have learned it at any time, but it doesn't surprise me that it took a very special occasion to learn it. They played what they HAD to play on that Reunion tour. Love Her All I Can, an amazing song, is one Ace at least plays, so you just have to teach Peter here. All I'm saying is it makes sense to me that with Peter and Ace not having played in awhile, they could only have a limited setlist instead of having 40 songs prepared ready to call up. As much as I love Ace and Peter, that does seem like more than they might be able to handle. But this performance is wonderful.

That's the Alive version. I don't know about you but IMO if I'm going to jam with someone up on stage. It's most likely going to always be the studio version. Especially If Ive never jammed with them. I go with the KISS plan. "Keep It Simply Sam. No pun intended......We'll ok then pun intended.

Being a KISS fan for many years just like Port, I would have played the Alive! version too. It's the quintessential version of the song. If I'm going to jam with someone on stage, I would do the best version of the song. It's not Port's fault.

I agree that Gene and Paul definitely were the level heads of the band. Bill Aucoin deserves a lot of credit as well. But, to discredit Ace and Peter for what they contributed to this band? Yeah, they made some horrible decisions in their lives which cost them. For people to throw that in their face make me ask the question; "When is the last time you looked in the mirror?" Everyone has made bad choices in their lives. So for people to point fingers and criticize, I think is hypocritical. Ace and Peter don't deserve all the credit or even as much as Gene and Paul for the success of KISS. They do deserve respect for what they put into KISS. By the way, how many musicians have Ace and Peter influenced to Gene and Paul? I'm not saying they are better than them, just making a point for their contribution.

Nigel Ciera Well he created the KISS Logo, The Space Man, The Starchild, Smoking guitar, Lighting bolt guitar strap. He also wrote many key songs that are still played by KISS today. Even if Gene and Paul formed some sort of band like KISS it wouldn't be the band we know today without Ace and Peter's contribution. Their fingerprints are all over that band.
@flavour1970

Nigel Ciera i think people are refering to Aces guitar playing that gave KISS its sound, not who placed an ad where ever. without Aces sound and AWESOME SOLOS who knows what would have happened..its only speculation on your part that ANY guitarist could have filled that spot and have the same outcome.

+AugustusLarch I wonder how many songs Peter sang on this night, not to mention how much did he sing during the year, the decade or the last 4 decades. Paul WAS a great singer while Peter was a pitchy singer back in the day. Peter would sing one or at most 2 songs a night way back in the 70's . Have you ever sang in a band? Singing one song a night does nothing to tax your voice especially if it's a pussy song like Beth. Try singing 18 songs a night like Lick It Up, Love Gun, I Want You, Heaven's On Fire, I Stole Your Love, etc. etc, and then screaming at the top of your lungs between songs as the master of ceremonies. Saying Peter is singing better than Paul in 2016 isn't saying much. That's like bragging that you're hung better than a braille dot. The vocals Peter did here aren't anything to rave about, lol. But I won't critique him too harshly because he is old and way past it at this point.

Ace should have sung Parasite from the beginning. Gene never could sing, Paul when he could sing, he still needed to have his parts redone in the studio for alive cause he messed them up, and from my tons of bootleg videos, he messed up a LOT. Peter on the other hand, has always sounded the same, evident in all the bootlegs i mentioned, and in the studio. And that always sounded great to me. Must have been some reason Paul have him Black Diamond to sing :-) As for the other two guys, they are just copying what Ace and Peter created and wrote. Sorry but that is a talent you can't take away from them. The only thing Ace has lost is some of his hair.
