To me this has much more to do with how good she is, rather than "vets" liking her. Everyone wants to win. If she can play she has a spot on the team. The WNBA doesn't have the turnover that major leagues with longevity have (NBA, MLB and NFL). She wasn't good enough to be a dog, and potentially her attitude played a part in putting the dagger in her.
@deadeye5000

They probably cut her because she went on social media and started complaining on the first day of training camp. From their perspective, it was a sign of things to come and something they didn't want to deal with long term. Not a good look for a rookie to be running her mouth like that on the first day. Basically, she admitted she wasn't ready for the WNBA..........and the team took her at her word and cut her.

Issue is simple... WNBA season starts right after women's college basketball is over. NBA prospects get months after tourney play to be able to prepare with trainers etc. The colleges should be responsible for WNBA prospects as they literally don't get a tenth of the time the guys do prior to draft day. Just college grind and then straight to the pros. Simple fix, WNBA should be played DURING basketball season. Not during the summer lol

Morris getting cut is an example of one of the things wrong with that league. Alexis Morris took over the second half of a championship game. That young lady is extremely talented. The NBA would have cut a bench rider for new young talent. The WNBA is not succeeding with the players there now. That's why you don't cut young talent. People say marketing is the problem. Sports markets players. The WNBA has nothing to market. No transcending players (ex. Serena Williams, Lebron James, Tiger Woods). Their best bet is new young talent. SMH

@nikethegreat3486 that's exactly what it means in women's basketball. The talent level in the WNBA is not high. If a women can dominate in college, that's a good indicator that they can play on the pro level. I don't subscribe to everything is relative logic. Sure it's a small chance she won't succeed but with what she did in the biggest game of her life with millions of people watching, I believe she could adapt to the pro style of play.

It is not a college program’s job or responsibility to prepare a player for professional ball. Granted, you have programs that have the resources and high level coaching needed to better prepare athletes for what they will potentially see in pro ball, but ultimately, the institution’s ultimate goal is to produce a product that will satisfy fans, not to aid the in the players quest to become a pro athlete, as even being a pro athlete is a privilege, not a right. For example, football programs like Oregon, Texas Tech, and GTech have all traditionally ran offensive systems that are unorthodox and not commonly ran in professional football in order to compensate for the personnel on their rosters, meaning players will have to take initiative and ACCOUNTABILITY to better prepare themselves for the NFL by undertaking a pro style mental and physical regimen to make up for the fact that their institution may not necessarily be a pro factory.

She transferred 3 times before getting to LSU where her former coach was Kim Mulkey. She wanted the ring that badly, she took those measures to transfer that many times. The thing is, when players are waived, it's not the end of the line, but it IS sitting in limbo waiting for your number to be called. What I suggest in that time she's 'waiting', she should get back in the gym and work out, like you said Jaye to get a trainer and stay in shape until that time. I'm sure she thought that it was gonna get her chosen, be on a starting roster, and then be set. This is unusual to me, having seen that many players being waived like that.

Joining the WBNA takes the right mindset as well as ability to play at an elite level. I agree that the WBNA needs to expand but how can it be expanded if no one is watching it? The NBA and its players should step in and support the WBNA. It is very disappointing watching ladies get drafted but to later see them sent home. Why not create a women’s G-League like the men and give them a chance to continue to develop and grow in order to work towards getting in the WBNA. Coaches in the WBNA should ban together and create or petition to have this type of league. It could be useful if key players get hurt as it can be used as a source to draw from. Now, Alexis is upset and I get it! But she must understand that you must prepare mentally as well as physically for playing at an elite level. That preparation falls on the player not coach or prior coaching. Alexis take this time to heal, prepare and seek out other opportunities. That opportunity could be to start up a women’s G-league. Use this opportunity to your benefit not to your detriment! Use that energy for good not to tear down. You are better than those tweets! ❤

She is now feeling the pain that so many underclassmen go thru in the NBA. Bottom line, she didn't do her homework. She didn't take the time to gauge her skills, her basketball IQ, or how her talents would fit in the pro game. She wasn't ready. Has she ever been cut from a team? Probably not cuz she is all in her feelings. She needs to hire a trainer, get her mind right, and try again. Maybe go overseas to get some seasoning. This is not college, this is the real world and it is not nice at all

She was senior , she was 5th year senior so she had no choice but to go wnba. There’s only 12 teams in wnba that’s why so many cuts. Nba has 30 teams, not enough spots. WNBA should expand when they make enough money to do so.

There are so few spots in the league. It is cyclical as every 6 years enough players are drafted to fill every roster spot for every team. Just the law of averages tell you a player needs to be very good to make and stay in the league. And there is little advantage to a rookie contract. Rookies make $74k. The average WNBA salary is $147k, with the highest paid players capped at $234k with a team hard cap of $1.4M. This tells you teams are opting to try to get more max type players (super teams like the Aces and Liberty) which makes unproven rookies expendable as you can complete your roster with proven vets at the minimum salary of $74k. She is good enough though to have a nice career overseas.

This could cost the WNBA because with the NIL money in college players might choose to play 4years exhaust their NIL money then sign with teams overseas. You could end up with much older players in the WNBA Players don’t want to be first round draft picks and get cut while overseas rosters fill up and teams spend their available money leaving these WNBA first round picks looking for regular jobs

The thing is the WNBA is a small league, they have something like only 144 roster spots - I believe each team only has 12 spots on each of the 12 teams - established veterans are going to more than half of those spots, coaches' favorites are going to automatically get one or two spots on a team and then prized free agents are going to get 1 to 2 spots, that leaves 1 or two spots for a rookie to make the team and those rookies must be spectacular players - the league doesn't have the luxury of signing a rookie and spending 2 or 3 years developing them into a great player, that's why some first round draft picks are released the before the final rooster.

To be honest, she has a point. NBA has a developmental league, the W doesn't. Women's professional soccer has leagues as well to develop their soccer league. But for some reason, the W gets paid less and American players for so long have to go overseas. Why? Now that the NCAA womens basketball coverage has gotten so big and NIL money is generating. You got vets upset that rookies coming in with a likeness/money. The W has always had an issue with marketing. But if you have rookies coming in with likeness take advantage of that to build. Some people are not doing their jobs to push the league forward and keep it running. Majority of the rookies got cut in this last draft, what was the draft for? It's alot of Power play, don't blame this solely on money.
