Ex-Navy SEALs Rescue Children From Sex Trafficking In San Diego (HBO)

According to the FBI, there were 465,676 National Crime Information Center entries for missing children in 2016.
Frustrated that police don’t always treat runaway and missing children cases as a high priority, private investigator Joseph Travers started Saved in America to pick up these cases where cops leave off.
Saved in America is a San Diego-based nonprofit made up of former Navy SEALS and police officers who, as licensed private investigators, assist parents and law enforcement in tracking down runaways.
Since its inception in 2015, the group has assisted in the rescue of 35 children, finding them from California to Florida, in an average time of nine days and at a cost of $5,000.
VICE News follows the group of volunteers on the ground as they assist a mother from Utah in search of her daughter.

joe will Teens are too easily influenced and decievable for society to allow them to date older than 18 (general rule, laws vary by region as far as age of consent, under 18 has to date within 1 or 2 years of his/her age, ect). Basically, the dumb, unsuccessful, or fla-out undatable guys typically prey on younger girls and it's fucking gross and that's why it's illegal. I shouldn't have had to explain that.

All children need to be with their parents. 40% of all runaways end up in the hands of the traffickers. Within 48 hours all runaways will be approached by a pimp predator trafficker. ChildSavedNotSold!

joe will and no, she doesn't have a right to run away. If she went through the court system and emancipated herself from her parents, that'd be different. But she's still her kid, her dependant, and is responsible for everything that happens to her. I hope you're not responsible for any children.

they dont have enough resources and the likelyhood of the kid just running away and coming back is high. When you are limited on resources you have to use them where they are most needed. If they go after every runaway then most of the time it is wasted resources since the kid comes back anyways. Its not good obviously but in the real world compromises are always made. If you really care, fight to get more funding for the task forces responsible for solving these cases.

That's a valid question. I don't claim I know the "right" answer, but I believe it has to do with context, and free will. If we never knew sin or the fall, we could never really understand forgiveness or love either. And if there is no struggle, then there is no real growth or context to a relationship with God. The Scriptures talk about how we've been bound up under sin, that God might shoe us mercy. And in that, we can understand the concept of forgiveness and forgive others the wrongs they do to us. And in that.... perhaps, come to understand love. That is my theory anyway, thank you for asking this question.

I ran into this personally. I am a Marine Veteran and dealt with "chai boys" quite frequently. Back stateside, my sister was listed as a runaway and was being trafficked. She escaped and went to a nearby hospital after receiving a beating from her trafficker. Police were useless, I expressed my concerns that she was being trafficked and law enforcement blatantly said that I didn't know what I was talking about and that she was just the victim of DV from her "boyfriend". I had a moment with her and asked her very important questions that the police just failed to do and it was a textbook case of trafficking. Local PD would not get involved so I said screw it, I'll contact the feds. Spoke with an extremely arrogant agent who said, "your time in the Marine Corps does not make you an expert on this" with all due respect I probably received more training than you regarding the matter. Anyway after getting zero help, the agent at the end of the conversation tries to tell me that my sister was not being trafficked since she was "in a relationship" and that we were not "overseas". So he ends the conversation saying that in order for it to be trafficking it would have to be commited outside the U.S. can you believe that? A Federal Agent who did not know what domestic trafficking was? What a joke. Local and Federal agencies need to get their heads out of their asses when it comes to this matter.

Mars Junior they are in different divisions but they are all told what to do by the same chief/ commissioner/sheriff who in return answers to a city council and a mayor ( or whatever the chain of command is in your city) Point being is that they put way more resources behind the officers that handle traffic & drug cases. They are definitely pushed harder because crimes like that (traffic/drugs) are revenue earners. Whereas sex crimes are not, they end up costing the city money. Thus they are not aggressively pursued.

I don't think so. Minors can't just out of free will drink or smoke because they are not old enough. I think to be old enough to leave your house should be at the age of 18. At 17 you are still a minor and should be under parent's care. I was a minor who has been to juvenile hall and has had probation and the authority always made sure I understood that i had to obey my parents and follow their rules for the same reason that i was a minor. I didn't feel like i had free will back then I knew i couldn't smoke, drink or sneak out or do anything that my parents didnt want or else I would get in trouble with them or the police. So I dont understand why these minors can choose to leave their homes or be with their bfs or at stranger's houses with no consequenses as if they were old enough to do what they wanted.
@trex5878

+Citizen Four You are partially right. Police normally need a search warrant to forcibly enter a home. To get a search warrant, police need to establish probable cause that evidence of a crime is likely to be found in the home. Police can enter a home without a search warrant under exigent circumstances. Exigent circumstances include imminent danger (shouts for help, gunfire, etc), destruction of evidence, hot pursuit of a suspect. In this situation, it appears that none of those exigencies apply. The police could have possibly articulated that crimes were occurring in the home (prostitution) based on the work done by Saved in America and applied for a search warrant. If approved by a judge, they could then force entry into the home.

As someone from the UK who grew up in the social care system - I can attest this is a deeply rooted issue and it's widespread. These CHILDREN are not runaways. Do you not realize how stupid your comment is. You really want the police to have the power to do whatever they want without warrants, proof of a crime, etc. The law exists for a reason, to protect innocent civilians from invasion with no proof of a crime. Of course there is a downside to following the law but it exists for a reason to protect your dumb ass! The girl in this was of legal age to leave home, you can legally run away from home at age 16. The cops can't forceably get her, they have to follow the law. You dont like the law, change the law don't blame the cops.

Thanks so much for trying to save children from sex traffic. It's so hard for a child/girl/boy to be abused sexually by so many people and others make lots of money off of them. This has to so scary to kids. They're made to take drugs, have sex with usually 10-20 men per day. A child should be loved and cared for and protected. I think it's against the law for "child trafficking" and it should be a big deal. We must get these inhumane animals off the street finding little lives and destroying them.

I could not believe my ears when the police officer said they couldn’t do anything to retrieve the minor from a house that was not hers, and her mom was there desperate to get her out of there. It’s scary how the system works, very disappointed. Even if the girl left voluntarily, she is still a minor and can be in danger. Thank God for those hard working men who risk their life to reunite families.

Governments the world over could stop this vile thing from happening they just don't care enough and they will continue to not care while it is poor people suffering they have the funds, resources and powers to stop this overnight. This sort of thing should not be happening in this day and age.
@darkhorse5232
@darkhorse5232 4 жыл бұрын
I don't think they could stop it overnight, as most of these networks are underground and hidden. But they can do so much significantly more than they have been, I think it needs to be a priority. More people need to realize what is going on. And these criminals behind this need to be dragged out into the light for all to see.
@victoriaschulte8878
@victoriaschulte8878 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, because God forbid you took action on a "low priority" case involving a MISSING CHILD. I don't care if you do just end up finding most of them at their boyfriend's house or whatever, you are actively avoiding finding CHILDREN who have gone missing. Complete and utter bullshit.

It took a community of compassionate and empathic people to find a missing girl in 2 days and it took all the governments 2 minutes to turn the other cheek, "you're lucky you got her back" he said. I cried so hard, I was shaking, the utter lack of compassion for other people and the non existence of enthusiasm to pressure policies so that vital resources can be given NOW to citizens with lost children. The law just assumes the ran away. Nice. Why not find them right away and let the parents determine if the child wanted to run away or were trafficked.

At 13 i was a runaway and was almost sex trafficked along with my 14yr old bff.. a supposed "friend" lured us to hang out in his hotel room to drink.. spiked our drinks, the buyer showed up, friend passed out on the bed and when i went to the bathroom the buyer went in there and started trying to take my clothes off and smacking me in the face because i wouldnt stop screaming.. we got out but it could have ended badly.

Wow! It's turning out that it's the Vetrans: retired Marines and Navy Seals that are stepping into the gap. With the problems of underfunded police - with all the politics that make practical rescuing of children and other trafficked humans almost impossible, it's private citizens stepping up. THIS IS IMPRESSIVE. The police want to do more to help but they cannot. Vetrans doing the leg work and receiving the help and authority of the police is a BRILLIANT STRATEGY.
