FRANCE 24 spoke to the former head of Saudi #intelligence, Turki al-Faisal, following the announcement that #Iran and #SaudiArabia have agreed to reestablish diplomatic relations. The prince expressed hope that last week's China-brokered deal will be a game-changer for the region, mentioning Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and especially Yemen, where a deadly conflict has resulted in the world's worst humanitarian crisis. The former ambassador to the US and UK also explained why China was "the logical partner" in making the deal happen.

If some day there is peace in the middle east, than the entire middle east will be very rich and the economies in the USA and Europe will go down. Therefor there will never be peace in the middle east, not because the people in the middle east don't want it, but because the hidden hands of the West (including Israel) will prevent it to save their economy from collapsing !!!! So please mark my words; THERE WILL NEVER BE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST !!!!

@@mansourmorakabi7828 We Saudis never attacked Iran or wished harm on its people. Even when the relationships between the two countries were in all time low; we always treated Iranians who come to our lands in Mekkah and Medinah with respect and dignity. Sadly your government is the one sending missiles to Saudi Arabia, sending rioters to attack our embassy, plot to assassinate our officials, support terrorist militias who target our cities with Iranian missiles etc.... I invite any Iranian to come to our country to see for themselves without your government lies, and I promise you will get a taste of the great Arab hospitality, we will only shower you with love and respect. We are long time neighbors, and we have so many similarities that should unite us rather than focus on our differences, hopefully the Iranian people know that, and your government acts accordingly to build up a more peaceful and prosperous Middle East for both nations.

Let's be honest. As an Iranian myself, I do not think that the government of Iran will adhere to this agreement, the reason is that the government of Iran is a descendant of the Safavid Empire and its purpose is to spread the Shiite ideology. This government has brought a disaster to us that many Iranians leave Islam and even those who remain Muslim are not accepted as Muslims in the Islamic society because they behave in ways that are against Islam. This does not mean that I agree with the Saudi government, but they are much better than the Shia mullahs, at least the Saudi government values its citizens.

Great 👍 analytical thinking and choice of precise words used by the former Saudi Intelligence Minister; to explain and clear the thick fog 🌫️ and smoke hovering over this ground breaking meeting of minds 🧠 🎉

As a Saudi, whereever I travel around the world, I always meet friendly Iranian people. The Saudi people and Iranian people have a lot of common grounds (sense of humour for a start). this gives hope that people can be friends and not only abroad.

as an iranian i would love to get tighter to our neighbouring muslim countrys. actually the ME can dominate Europe and the west in many areas, we have enough of this "war brokering and western interests"

It's a new beginning once again some are happy others not so .but it will surprise everyone who wants to destroy humanity at all cost. It's no matter what by dividing fine lines between people of different kind and ways.

Nope. We're done. This is prime evidence of that. It's actually a natural fit as China is in the position (importing all their oil from the Gulf) the US was 20-50 years ago. We buy some Saudi oil, but mostly as a favor and because most of our refineries are tooled to refine their crap oil. We have plenty of our own oil and it's the best quality in the world. These things are not coincidence. US is done with the ME.

USA is broke AF, they simply couldn't afford another war. If they do open up another front in Middle East they'd be making the same mistake Hitler did in 1940s by attacking both Russia and Western Europe.
