Bad blood turned me on to all of this (before the docs were produced) over five years ago. Thank goodness for the Hudson’s “best new reads” section. What should have been a bloody thriller fiction novel that I would read on the plane and maybe finish before I lost it on my trip, became a disturbing nonfiction tell-all that I couldn’t put down until I devoured it. And a book I was excited to share with others before anyone knew what had happened.

Having worked in labs for years we would all wonder about how this was possible, it just didn't seem realistic given the work that goes into the testing process. 8.5ml of whole blood, centrifuged, will give enough serum to test about 14 or so tests. I'm not at all surprised that she fooled as many as she did given that most ppl have no idea what happens to their blood once we draw it. Before I worked in labs I hadn't given it any consideration.

having a similar background, clinical chem and analytical chem, I was extremely skeptical from the get-go and kept thinking "that's not possible chemically or physically" There's just not enough sample. As to fooling people, most people's education is completely lacking in this area, and if someone dazzles and bullies people, they can get away with it--for a while. Not the first time I've seen such a thing in startups. They did work on some kind of fluidics and delivery system for over a half a decade but when they got to the analytic part, it was obvious it went down as it was going to go down--current technology has nothing to handle so little amount of what you need to measure.

My classmates from high school also made a petition against the music teacher for the same reason, and he was not imprisoned, but fired. And he was a very nice teacher. Also we had female teachers who yelled and called us names all the time, but no one did anything about them. This world is twisted af.

People not understanding the eye thing…I have large eyes too. The difference is I feel lots of emotion and you see it in my eyes, expressions and my pupils dilate and so on. She’s blank and looks manic perpetually. The big eye thing only works if you can utilize it in different methods. Like adapting your looks to the specific emotion. I don’t feign it, it happens naturally but her eyes are not the same. They are thoughtless yet calculating, I truly don’t think she feels emotion and she she can’t hide her approach. She wasn’t clever enough ! 9/10 people will comment about her eyes, it’s a sign, a clear giveaway. I’m not perfect but I am sane and emotionally intelligent- big eyes change consistently depending on the tone or circumstances. Including me not showing emotion ? I still couldn’t hide my glances fully. Eye contact that’s consistent like this and lacks emotion ? Look at her actions coupled with it. Go ahead and justify it 😂😳 she’s crazy like a fox. She reminds me of Bundy with that stare.

Kick gum, and chew ass. I don’t know about “most” successful. Almost every other developed country have better healthcare, most of them are not involved in foreign wars and wasted tax dollars, most of them have less debt, and most of them have higher poverty line (as in U.S.’s poorest is way worse off than those other countries). Some rank higher on happiness, some are even pioneers of technology that work on things the current U.S. president deny is an issue. So U.S. is only “most” successful in some areas, and just trash on healthcare, education, climate change and many others. Pipe down your ego.

One of the problems is having 20-30yo youngsters in prominent positions. When I was 20 I thought that it was right to be young and grow fast in the corporate world, now thatI'm 53 and have 30 years of milage as a manager I say that age and experience are very important. When you are young you tend to think too fast and act too bold while company management is like governing an oil tanker, you can't steer it 90* full speed, you need to calculate your moves and predict their slow outcome (all of it) over time.
