If Nawab Siraj had won at the battle of Plassey, Bengal perhaps would have thrived as the most prosperous region in whole of the sub-continent by now given that they followed the principles of the policies of Nawab Murshid Kuli Khan, the first independent Nawab of Bengal. Nawab Murshid Kuli Khan, originally a Deccan Brahmin and later a convert to (Shia) Islam, adopted policies that promoted economic activities including agriculture, trade, communication and taxation system. He promoted and established religious and sectarian harmony in the society. In his administration, he recruited people from every religion and ethnicity without any discrimination against any group or special favor towards any specific group. But as Jamindar, he mostly appointed Hindu elites and thus created a new class of Hindu elites throughout whole of Bengal which was non-existent before. Nawab Alivardi Khan, grandfather of Nawab Siraj, was said to have adopted and implemented the policies of Nawab Murshid Kuli Khan.

In High School, we had "Golden History of India"as our history text book. I was never good at remembering dates. But some how names of these battles got stuck in my head, and even after 55 years, I still remember the places of these battles. Plasi, Buxar, Tarain, Kalpi (Laxmi Bai, Queen of Jhansi), Haldi Ghati, Panipat, Bareilly, Pullalur, Barracpore (Mangal Panday) and names of the Rajas, Nawabs, and Kings, Generals. Siraj ud daula, Mir Kasim, Mir Jafar, Lakshmi Bai, Tatya Tope, Nana Phadnavis, Tipu Sultan, Shah Alam. Robert Ciive, Lord Mayo, General Dyer (Jaliyanwala Bagh, Amritsar). I wish I could find a hard cover copy of Golden History of India, published in 1961 - 62.

I think If Indian rules had won the battle,the Britishers had realised that not only they but Indians are also brave than them and they might have started only trading and had not entered in political matters of India. And much wealth of India have been saved which we could use for the development of our country.

If Indian rulers had won these battles then India would have probably progressed a lot in the past years rather than serving the British. India would have been in a better condition now with almost all forces of modernity.

If those two battles were won by Indian rulers, nothing would have changed apart from delaying the British era in India. Of they lost those battles they would faught another battle with more strength. Nothing can stop the cycle of time. Had the British failed to lure Mir Jafar, they would not faught Battle of Plassey on that year. They would take another strategy making sure that they were ready and defeat the Nawab. No one is stronger than time in this three dimentional world.

As an Englishman, I hope there is no hate. I respect India a lot and the British Military had great respect of the indian sikhs and other soldiers, and of course the Ghurkas. Jaffar being a traitor was not fault of india.

The battle of Palashi (actual name) was an unfortunate event for the people of Bengal and entire India. It turned the once wealthy and potent state of Bengal into a poverty-ridden, divided and exploited land. It was really shameful how the traitor Mir Zafar, Ray Ballav, Raj Durlav, Umi Chand, Jagat Sheth betrayed the own nation. These names still bring anger and hatred to the Bengali people. Perheps the Nawab (Siraj-Uf-Doulah) was not a flawless ruler as he was very young (and surrounded by devils), but he was a true patriot and his drawbacks nevet justify that treachery.

Betrayal by trusted elements & lack of unity were prime reasons for the defeat of Indian forces in both these battles. If the Indian forces would have managed to defeat the company's army , the desperate company would have come back with a new conspiracy theory but there would have been a hope to resist its invasion on the golden bird.

India may become a diplomatic country of indian traders..

If combined Indian army won this fight results was awesome for Indian business

We believe Siraj-ud-Doula was an immature and inexperienced Nawab of Bengal. If he would be a potent and persuasive person Mir Jafor could not fool him so easily. Because of his weakness the cunning and shrewd Mir Jafor could blackmail him very quickly. There is always defeat in the battle if the rulers are not efficient and all-rounders. The next two hundred years of foreign rule in India was not only due to traitor role of Mir Jafor but also due to foolishness of Nawab Siraj-Ud-Doula.
