Examination of the upper class (Graduation and pre-graduation level) at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague, The Netherlands.
This exam is rather to challenge the students than to just show them off, as the combinations were shown two days in advance only by guest-teacher Martin Meng with the final Grand Allegro showed on the spot.
Specific male jumps (such as Double Tour, Double Assemblé) are not included here, as these were
prepared in different combinations by their regular teacher (Christopher Powney), the same with
pointe work for the girls (Laurence Korsenti). A wonderful challenge to the students indeed and it brought them succes as from these 9 students, 2 girls went to the Dutch National Ballet, 1 boy to Birmingham Royal Ballet, 1 boy to the Netherlands Dance Theatre, 1 girl to Introdans (and from there to Scapino
Rotterdam), 1 boy continued to study character dance in Hungary, another went to a company in Germany (sorry, I don't recall which one) and 2 girls pursued freelance dance careers.
