My favorite moment is, and always has been the moment Opal said, "Nancy, *where* have you *been*!" and then Orym just responds with, "Mother!" in this strained voice, and it will never not be funny to me. Bonus, Aabria going, "Deception check, disadvantage, because that's a grown man," and then two Natural 20s.

Roll high or roll low, either way, when the right people come together it's always gonna be magical. Coz a failure there would have been equally as funny to watch. I adored that the Nancy thing kept coming up through the rest of the episodes as well.

Am I missing something or did Fearne get two subclasses? She definitely Wild Shaped as a bonus action, and she transformed into a CR 1 Dire Wolf instead of a regular CR 1/4 Wolf. So she also got the Moon Druid features in addition to Wildfire.

@@joshua1201 level 3 moon druid is basically at peak power for the entire run of their campaign, I would say that at level 3 they are the strongest subclass in *the entire game* , so yeah I am surprised the dual class pull was allowed!

@@princemills6022 There was a cosmology chart in one of Hallas rooms with a red jewel and he pushed it because he could, ending in the blue dragon room. Aside for that Grog was chaos incarnate, knocking down two guards in the city of religion just because they were asking too many questions, pulling cards from the deck of many things just because even to give one to an npc to see what happens and offering more gold that the shop keeper asks, are the few i can remember from the top of my head

God, rewatching this again and at 50:00 when Ashley mentions how Fearne isn’t really scared of anything I couldn’t help but think about now, currently in C3, when she revived Orym she said something along the lines of “Can you please come back because I’m getting a little scared?” Like…Fearne didnt fear much if anything until she lost her best friend

The moment that continues to stick out in my mind, even though it wasn't that big a deal, was when everyone was at Gilmore's shop and Dariax was checking out. Matt just plops down shit and goes "what does this do" or "what's this thing" and Aabria.... either has a list of stuff from the shop ready, or like just made cool items on a whim because Matt didn't give any description about the items whatsoever. And idk if it was just improvisation or preparation. it was just impressive and confusing.

I of course can't wait for all the regulars to get together again some time. But I hope Robbie, Abbria, Aimee and Anjali all come back, for one-shots, campaign guests, or even better a ExU arc 2. They are incredibly talented and more importantly really had fun and had great chemistry.

I 100% believe there will be an EXU part 2 sometime. There's so much stuff that can be done, and how they purposefully avoided talking about certain intentions going forward that sounded like they still want to keep some mystery to reveal it another time, so I think there's plans or at least the intention of continuing this should the opportunity arise.

Late to the game but I just have to say. The moment I realized Dorian was my favorite character was during the pageant when, without any bad rolls or suggestion from the DM, Robbie absolutely purposefully bombed Dorian's interview segment. I was laughing so hard. Dorian is such an adorable mix of charismatic and awkward and it just works, I love it!

As a twin whose twin is their best friend and has been the other part of “the twins” for years, I loved how Opal and Ted’s story ended. Opal wanted so desperately to live her own life, and in a certain way, get away from the “oh you’re a twin? How fun!!!!” life that you get all the time as a twin. My twin and I had a time as teens where we wanted to be SEPARATE so badly. But, becoming adults showed us how we would want anything BUT that now because we are each other’s biggest fans. I was crying my eyes out when Opal finally realized that she couldn’t bear to lose Ted and would do anything to keep her with her. In a way, your twin is really another part of you and with you all the time. Aimee (and Aabira oh my GOODNESS) did such great work with Opal and Ted’s story.

She also made it make any good-aligned character have a very visceral reaction of vomiting black fluid. I very much enjoyed her DM style but you can't enforce mechanical alignment and also try to push a "power is what you make of it" message. It just doesn't work.

@@JexsamX i think the reaction was caused by the spiderqueen, not the vessel. Just my theory. She wouldn't want a "good" person to use her power, she wanted someone to do her biting. She thought opal might be it, but opal used it as a tool, not a source of power in itself. Doesn't take away that their reasoning about it being evil was logical, but i think the reaction was created by her, not the vessel, and we know they're connected. At least, that's how i saw it.

@@wasd_totallyreal_dsaw9865 Yes that is how it worked exept it is one of the features she baked into it. The circlet is not evil. However it is picky. It refuses to work for good goody two shoes. The viceral reaction is a bit extreme. But no orym and dorian could not uae the sirklet whether that is because of lolths pressence during its creation or her pettyness programing that in. Circlet not evil but definetley not Good however there is a lot in between those two extremes.

@@Markcrazeer definitely a spider queen thing. She used her own power in making the circlet to push good people away knowing they might use it for good. She is looking for like minded individuals or weak ones she can corrupt. The point was, if your strong enough all power is just power. But the reason why the lesson was so important is because few can actually make that statement true. More often than not, people fail to resist the power and influence of the one that offers the magic.

While I personally prefer how Narrative-centric Matt is, I liked how lighthearted Aabria made this mini-campaign. A nice breath of fresh air, and change from the "serious stuff" is great for cast and audience!

I really hope that the (a lot of unnecessary) backlash that ExU got doesn't stop them from making more mini-series like this. It was so much fun and it definitely is a welcome new format with different players and playing styles.

1:58 OMG, I just realized. Vax is 11.75 inches tall and Vex is 11.5 inches tall. Even in Sideshow Collectibles statue form, Vex is still "Stubby". 🤣🤣

I'm amazed by Aimee's ability to pull together such a complete character arc in as little time as they had. Opal trying everything to untether herself from her upbringing, coming to realize that she knew nothing of the world, rejecting and then almost losing her sister, and her slow slide towards darker tendencies. By the end, all she wants to do is go home. But she put the crown on, and now there's no going back.

I'm sure there's a ton more that I can't recall off the top of my head, but I'm definitely going to be coming back to rewatch this series, and all the love to Aabria and Matt for making it happen.

Artifact item, when you pick it up you instantly get cursed. You have disadvantage on all rolls, you can only roll with wheatons bones, and when you roll a natural 20 you have to reroll

Them talking about Matt's "Tharlaa Starr" charade was comical. All I could think was Matt impersonating his wife playing Beau playing a "Tharlaa Starr" at the docks in Campaign 2. That is where I believe his head space was at. Whether or not her thought that, it is my canon.

Someone should get this episode into the acting curriculum for schools, the advice here for both acting and psychology and literature is phenomenal. for real though, I sometimes get upset with my sister for putting the decorations in the "wrong" place on the christmast three, I can' t imagine the generosity and opennes and trust that would go into entrusting something that you have worked on for ten years and is very personal to you as much as exandria is for Matt, knowing it will come back to you changed, is amazing. And it was worth it, I think.

Matt's idea of the intelligence score really resonates with me. I had a big burly bear of a man who was a bareknuckle boxer named Ed (his name in the ring was block Ed) who wasn't dumb he just never focused on academic things. He never even bothered to learn to read although I'm sure he could have. He was partnered with literally his polar opposite on complete accident and despite being as different as possible me and the other player had great chemistry. Unfortunately I had so little time playing him...

I agree as well. I have actually kind of tried to avoid giving any of my characters a low Intelligence stat because I've never liked the traditional concept of a low Intelligence dumbass who only knows how to swing a sword around. I've never wanted to play that kind of character, so I haven't wanted to play with a low Intelligence score. But recently, I have created a character that kind of needs to have a low intelligence score, because while this woman isn't really stupid - she just doesn't know anything. She's never seen a map of the world, she's never touched a dictionary, she never went to school - but that's really more a lack of knowledge than anything else, so despite not having any of the knowledge necessary to be considered - quote unquote - "Intelligent" - she is still a smart enough person to KNOW that she doesn't know, and will therefore defer to the judgement of those who know more than she does.

This is such a good point, and so true of all the stats. Wisdom and Charisma especially. Low wisdom doesn't mean low common sense, low charisma doesn't mean nasty or ugly. There's so much depth available in the numbers and the rolls, so no matter what is on paper, that character can still be amazing in all their own ways.

I finished Campaign 2 about a week ago. One of my absolute favorite (537 hour) stories on the planet. Cleaned up EXU (working on this wrap-up) - - love this temporary group almost as much as the regulars. Now it's back to Campaign 1, which I grew to dearly miss, but I wanted to finish 2 in time for 3. This show is basically a miracle, imo.

1:28:11 min This moment of Matt saying "Get this text out of the way", made me laugh and hurt at the same time, and I love it. It reminded me so much of one of my Players. I'm a first time DM, DMing a table of, pretty much, all new Players, and at least half of the table has ADHD/ADD, including myself. And one of my Players has it really strong, so the inside joke is "That's what happens, when you skip all the Dialog" whenever he has no clue what is happening.

Matt talking about wanting his body to be made into artifacts was amazing, honestly~ Like... I just imagined him writing in his will that each of the magical ring/items are given to each member of the the CR cast, filled with the love and friendship of all of their bonds. Also, I'm honestly a fan of just.... creative funeral rituals. I always imagine my dead body as just a body, so why not make it into something beautiful. I don't need that body anymore, so why not make something new from it, whether it be a tree, or rings, or dice! It's a way to celebrate Life and Death, and find beauty in both.

He played a Death Cleric in a oneshot though. Not sure he would double dip in the same subclass? Would love to see him play an Order Cleric. He'd be pretty great at knowing when to use healing spells specifically to let an ally take an extra attack, I think he'd be pretty clever with the Command and Compulsion spells on the Order Cleric's Domain list, and it would be pretty easy to make a character that clashes with the stereotypical image of an imposing Order Cleric.

I always thought it would be very difficult to play as someone from the Feywild but Ashley was absolutely what I figured a Fey would be like! She killed it as Fearne and I can't wait to watch C3! Liam, Robbie, Aimee, Anjali, Matt once again you have all created such beautiful characters for all of us to enjoy. The phenom that is Critical Role can not stop. GM... Aabria, there is not enough that can be said. As an aspiring GM myself, seeing the way you run a game compared to Matt has only expanded my abilities and given me more insight (I rolled for that, Nat 20) into how to better my GM style. Thanks again CR, Aabria and the rest of the EXU cast! As of today, I see the second part of EXU has started and I'm so excited to watch! And as always, Thank you Marisha for hosting this Wrap-up! These are always so bitter-sweet. I miss Vox Machina, I miss The Mighty Nein, and until next time, I will miss the Crown Keepers... my only solace being that they will return in Part 2.

Hearing all of them talk about how leaving your ego at the door when you sit down to play really hit home for me. I got into D&D just before EXU came out and it was the first campaign I got to watch live. D&D has completely changed my life and mindset, and now I’m playing in 3 campaigns with people I met online who love to tell stories and share those stories with others. Two of the groups come from a bunch of voice actors I met through Tiktok, and I’m learning how to be a better listener, storyteller, actor, friend, and human being because of the experiences at our “tables”. A big thank you to Robbie and Aimee for showing this newb that it’s okay for you to be vulnerable and just have fun with your friends ❤️

I really REALLY enjoyed this campaign, more than i even thought I would (which was a lot). It was refreshing to see newer players, more poc, more women - i adore the main campaign and players, but it's always so exciting to see what people with different experiences bring to the table, and what all of these people brought was absolute brilliance. I'm def hoping Fy'ra Rai manages to stumble her way back into her chaos children's life somewhere in C3, because Anjali brought so much charisma and humour and energy to her, but honestly my biggest hope is that we see MUCH more of Opal. Aimee is such a breath of fresh air in terms of her role play, she plays a character none of the other cast would (could?) play, and it brings such a delightfully real sense to the fantasy world of Exandria. We all know girls like her irl, with a big heart and a bigger mouth, a little sheltered and sometimes selfish, but confident and ready to get shit done. Also, of all the people to have taken on the circlet, she is the best and most interesting choice by far, because she will be willing to totally ignore or even straight up antagonise the Spider Queen EV.ER.Y. DAY just to be petty, and what is funnier than a teen girl messing with an eldrich horror out of spite? I am absolutely here for those interractions. Also though, i think Opal is the most strong-willed, and the least likely to be manipulated into evil by SQ over time (unless things are *insanely* desperate) because Opal is a contrarian and loves to do the opposite of what she's told. I mean, look at how long she went without her magic at the beginning of this campaign *just* because she refused to apologise to Ted!! That is for sure the person you want to resist psychic manipulation. I would LOVE to see what's going on with Opal a year down the line, with both SQ *and* Ted in her head, and see how all of that has evolved. (Also, i need Aabria to GM some Mighty Nein based one shots or mini-campaigns soon or i will riot). Thank you so much everyone involved, it has been a RIDE.

I was watching campaign 3 and fell in love with Ferne.. And then I became aware of her originating in this campaign and was caught up on C3 so thought why not check this out to get to know her even more. So glad and happy that I did. Not only for Ferne but this entire cast was amazing! Seeing the passion and enthusiasm they all brought with their own styles and personalities was just great. Truly hope we see another season of this campaign. But in particular my fav was Anjali who really was bursting with flavour and I just loved seeing her do her thing. Really would love to see more of all of them but her especially. Big fan!

It actually kind of struck me as odd that she'd do that, Matt has stated he has dysmorphia, is uncomfortable with his body, and that's why he chooses the loose clothing he wears.

I really hope another season of EXU comes out, I so enjoyed this cast an immense amount. The music, the journey itself, the people playing together... it just felt so amazing to watch... like I might go through another run of watching it again.

one of the endings of Life is Strange has you burning down the entire town to save your loved one, and that's when I realised I am not Good aligned because I never would have hesitated for a second. so I related to Dorian a lot when that same choice changed his alignment to Neutral. chaotic loyalty ✌️

Orym: Critical success Aabria: "How do you want to do this?" Liam proceeds to give a description like a fucking Jedi gracefully finishing off an enemy with ultimate style! Dariax: Critical success (on those rare occasions) Aabria: "How do you want to do this?" Matt proceeds to describe something more like Jar Jar Binks bumbling his way through a battle but somehow decimating the enemy through sheer dumb luck! That was the best part of this campaign for me!

Finally got caught up! Loved everything here; new GM (Abria you were/are great!), new players (Amy, Robby, Angela; you were amazing!), seeing Matt play such an in-the-moment, no-thought-for-tomorrow, almost clueless powerhouse was delightful, and seeing Ashley play such an innocent, child-like seeming character with a potential for immoral whimsey was edge-of-the-seat provoking. Liam being pushed into being the reluctant dad/leader figure was so much fun to watch, even as he showed how badass a halfling can be. AWE-MAZING! I did see the opening of Campaign 3 Episode 1 streaming at a theater in Connecticut before I finished watching the final episode and it blew my mind to see carryover characters. Looking forward to more possible interactions (or should I say; wishing REALLY hard for more carryover interactions!) and a campaign in EXU 2 (please?). This was truly a labor of love for those involved and a joyful experience to watch ("My Double D's take a point of exhaustion" - best Freudian slip ever!). Congratulations to players, staff, and production on a glowing jewel to add to the Critical Role crown. Well done. Is it Thursday yet!

I loved aabria as a DM. She was so laid back and easygoing. Just rolled with the punches while still delivering on the story beats. And on top of that stepping into Matt's shoes had to be a daunting weight to take on, and she nailed it. Just loved loved loved aabria's take on the world and the energy she brought. Can't wait to see more of her in the future

Honestly, I'm scared for Dorian as a character. He's now a guest character? Potentially a "guest" character. He's in campaign three now but, I feel like he's so fiercely loyal to both Orym and Fearne that I can see him leaving them behind, not unless Matt does something insane with Dariax and Opal to tear him away from the new group.

Lisle, hilariously is a town and it's how its pronounced. I grew up there.

I think the point that Anjali was making is that, since Byroden and its people seem to be more of a mix of Southern and Midwestern names, the name "Lisle" was probably meant to be pronounced more along the lines of "Lee-sell" or "Lie-sell"..."Lee-sell Vester", aka "Lee Sylvester," with "Sylvester" as a word having its roots in Latin as a reference to "silva," the word for "forest."

Yup, the only alternate I can think of would be Lis-le (like Lezlie) but I'd have pronounced it like Lyle too because I've worked the town over from a Lisle before.

Regarding alligators (and crocodiles): honestly, just stay out of strike range. Don't get within about 2 metres of it, and you're fine. And don't get in the water with them. On land, they're ambush predators - they surge out of the water really fast and bite something that's stopped for a drink. Or they'll maul something crossing a waterway while it's nice and slow. These aren't cheetahs, they don't sprint at you from 100 metres off and catch up with you in 5 seconds flat. Of course, being aware of them so you can keep your distance is the tricky part. They're stealthy, they find muddy water or kick up mud to make it impossible to see through, then stick just enough out that they look like a dead log or something. And then just sit there, not moving for hours. Crocodile food comes to the crocodile: don't act like food and you're not going to get eaten. And if you do get bitten, start beating on it. Jab at its eyes. Make it regret its decision to mess with you, and you've at least got a chance of it letting go and heading off to look for something easier. (And then go to the hospital, because that's gonna be one hell of a wound.)

This is terrible advice for alligators and you're going to get someone killed. As somebody who was an alligator handle in an alligator exhibit and handled literally dozens of alligators by hand daily for years let me educate you a little bit. Alligators can move at 30 mph for up to 50ish feet on land, they can lunge their entire body length out of the water, and if an alligator lqtches onto you your best bet is to wrap up around it so it's less likely to start spinning and rip off whatever it's clamped onto. Alligators don't register pain as a fear or deterrent mechanism, it makes them bite harder and start rolling. They're so dumb they will bite their own trails and think it's another animal so they'll latch hard and rip their own trails to shreds. As for "jabbing it's eyes" that's going to fail from the start. When alligators but they automatically close their eyes because their armored hide has ridges above the eyes to shield them during attacks. You're never going to be able to jab their eyes. Even if you did I refer back to the whole pain not stopping them thing. I've watched gators rip legs off each other and not stop fighting until both are dead because they accidentally bumped each other. But hatchling gators are like scaly little kittens and I love to play with them.

@@boz8761 was about to say, I'm no expert but the little bit I've read has always said gators are insanely quick and don't give a shit about anything that doesn't straight up murder them. There's a reason the only real change they've had in millions of years is a decrease in size
