I guess we're seeing this more and more - where a second excavator takes care of both the backfill and compaction above the pipe. Seems to be pretty efficient. I remember the old days, when they used to 'jet' the backfill in the trench with water. I guess H2O is just too scarce and expensive now.

Yep, we are unable to use watering in compaction due to water restrictions in our area
