The Bible describes burning sulfur raining down from the sky which destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 19:24). Is there any evidence that matches the Bible’s description of what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah? Many people dispute the site of Sodom and Gomorrah. However, Joel Kramer shows archaeological evidence of how the Bible's account certainly could have happened. You will be impressed at how the Sulfur Balls still burn after 4000 years!

I can’t believe I get to witness so much of the Bible coming to life before my eyes! Praise Jesus! Isn’t Lot’s wife still found as a pillar of salt even today. It depends on the person. I used to be an agnostic who became a Christian strictly because of evidence. Don't think that knowing evidence for Christianity is useless. You can convert some people just with evidence and with others evidence is helpful but it is not all that is needed.

Watch Ron Wyatt Discoveries video to see Sodom and Gomorrah and his other findings like the crossing of the Red Sea, Noah's Ark, that big rock that Moses hit with his staff and God made water come forth to water the Israelites. That rock is split in two. And showed erosion at its base from the large amount of water that flowed out of it. He also found the ark of the covenant and the crucifixion site of Jesus. The ark is under that site.

Sean, awesome work! I spent some time with your dad one day while I was doing media relations for Promise Keepers events in the early 2000s, and I helped him get to various reporter interviews. But I never forgot one of his awesome statements from the stage: “Rules without relationship leads to rebellion.“ I thought of that often and even quoted it to people over the last 20 years as I raised my three kids in the Lord. Now it’s exciting to see you shining the McDowell ministry torch brightly to another generation, the digital generation. Exciting!

We collected pieces of tephra (lava cooled while airborne) from a location on the SE side of the Dead Sea near Bab edh-Dhra, right off hwy 50. I have a piece sitting on my desk. Our prof pointed out the remains of an ancient gate and spoke of tombs that had been burned from the top-down. (Top-down destruction of tombs is abnormal. While raiders will burn a city, they will plunder any valuables from a tomb and won't bother burning graves) Good stuff!

Wrong location. The bible tells exactly where Sodom is located and it isn't at the South end of the Dead Sea. Genesis 13.18-13 clearly state that Sodom is East of Bethel and Ai. Lot left from Bethel and Ai to Sodom. He surely didn't go south to the Dead Sea. Ask any Israeli where the Jordan river ends and they will all tell you that the Jordan ends when it enters the Dead Sea. Sodom may have fought a war south of the Jordan but Sodom is East of Bethel and Ai. See my notes above.

@Silverheart1956
@Silverheart1956 Ай бұрын
@@Xenosaurian , Hello ! Well, that site (the area off the south western coast of the Dead Sea) has a tradition of speculation of the presence of Sodom. That is why you will find a geological structure around that location called "Lot's Wife" and another called "Mount Sodom". These sites have been known long before Ron Wyatt was born. They also have been rejected as a plausible site for the location of Sodom long before Wyatt was born. Wyatt was pulled in by the traditional hype. The area has been subject to archaeological survey by professionals (before Wyatt's birth) and nothing was found relating to the actual city of Sodom. The area is considered archaeologically insignificant in relation to the idea that it was the location of Sodom and that is why no one has any interest in conducting any excavations in the area. Excavations are expensive - why would anyone want to spend that kind of money when nothing was found in the archaeological survey. Wyatt found Sulfur balls in the area. These sulfur balls are a naturally occurring geological phenomenon resulting from the many sulfur springs in the area. The area is a major fault system called the "Dead Sea Transform" where the African Plate and the Arabian Plate are pulling apart. This is why the Dead Sea is so far below Sea Level. That also explains why sulfur and seismic activity is plentiful in the area. Wyatt did not consult any professional geologists to help him with his understanding of the area. I suppose he thought his training as a nurse qualified him to make these geological interpretations (LOL). Real archaeologists use specialists and consultants. NOTE: the area (Bab Edh-Dhra) being spoken of in the video, where some sulfur balls are found, is located across the Dead Sea from where Wyatt's Sodom is at. There are sulfur balls on each side of the Dead Sea. This just proves that sulfur balls are present all around the Dead Sea. There are sulfur springs on both sides of the Dead Sea because of the geological activity in the area of the Dead Sea.! Wyatt also saw geological structures that lead his imagination to interpret them as ruins of buildings. He was quick to jump to the unmerited conclusion that these structures were man made buildings of Sodom. Geologists have completely dismissed this idea. These same kinds of geological structures are found all around the Dead Sea - we know the buildings of Sodom did not surround the Dead Sea ! If Wyatt and/or associates wanted to provide any real evidence for such assertions, then it is NECESSARY to conduct excavations and if there are any human structures there, there WILL BE EVIDENCE ! Until evidence is found, there is no reason to believe Wyatt found anything other than a vivid imagination. Only gullible, naive people will believe Wyatt's imagination, of Wyatt's Sodom, without any real tangible verifiable evidence, other than Wyatt's imaginations and descriptions of his mind. A major consideration that that students of the Scriptures will be aware of is that The Scriptures provide us with the general location of Sodom and the cities of the plain (Kikkar), and Wyatt's Sodom does NOT fit the description of the location given in the Scriptures. Wyatt and his followers area generally not people who study the Scriptures deeply and in a scholarly manner. This is clear in Wyatt's many Scriptural blunders. He likes to chose and use certain Scriptures that support his ideas at the exclusion of of the significant point of Scripture, and his followers are never the wiser. Bottom line. - Wyatt should have used the Scriptures to find Sodom, not his imagination - But Wyatt ignored what the Scriptures said about the issue. Be Well, DZ

AMEN brother McDowell I really appreciate your Christ centered and Scripturally accurate content for the furtherance of The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ 🙏❤️👊. Josephus Flavius mentioned that Sodom and Gomorrah were visibly evidentiary in his writings back over two thousand years ago. This has nothing and everything to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a fellow Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't. I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict. Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of but not macro or micro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word. Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

Dear @davidnajor7536 That is Wyatt's Imagination at work ! If he or someone who has the credentials to get a permit, wanted to provide some evidence fro these claims then it is NECESSARY to excavate in order to have proof that there are buildings. An excavation would provide evidence, IF there is any thing there. No one has been willing to excavate the area because there is no reason to believe anything is there and no one is wiling to fund and excavation that has such poor potential for any success in finding anything. So, took a look at some of his videos, while some of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah may be preserving cultural memory, the two sites he talks about, Bab edh-Dhra and Numeira, weren't destroyed at the same time and the latest levels of destruction have been dated to a few hundred years earlier than pretty much any chronology of the patriarchal period. Looking forward to the video though and hope it discusses what we do/don't know archaelogically with some nuance.

@@SeanMcDowell AMEN brother McDowell I really appreciate your Christ centered and Scripturally accurate content for the furtherance of The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ 🙏❤️👊.

@@SeanMcDowell Thanks for the response and his take on the C14 dating and pottery alignment is pretty interesting. I think my major issue is that Schaub (the one who he references as taking over the excavations after Lobb) explicitly states that the major destruction layer of Bab edh-Dhra occurred roughly 2350 BC followed by a later resettlement in an unwalled village. He also dates the demise of Numeira to 2600 BC. Neither the re-occupation, the time-period gap, nor the Early Bronze dating seem to fit the Middle Bronze story of Abraham. I'll dig around some more, but would love to see any papers that specify a later dating or deal with the resettlement issue -- the main source I'm looking at right now is "Crossing Jordan: North American Contributions to the Archaeology of Jordan". Edit: Just pulled the field report and it looks like Rast and Shaub also dated the pottery of Strata II (the layer destroyed by fire) at Bab edh-Dhra to EB III (to roughly the same time frame as the C14 date gave), so even if later pottery from the re-settled Strata I matches a Middle Bronze date, the layer with destruction seems from both the account of pottery and C14 dating to be too early.

But i don't think, that "normal" excavations would be best to gain proof. I believe core drilling or jabbing a staff with a camera in front into the walls would be best to investigate the area. You don't have a high risk something collapsing in on You, You do not destroy much and You need a camera anyway to document the proof... Some months ago i did one horizontal "core drill". 2m far, ca. 2cm diameter (big enough to put a camera and lamp into) to find out if there may be still hollows to find. I could not spend more time there, did not find a chamber, only all the same gypsum ash material as on the outside. So the quest for truth is still on. If we could find a proof that there was a city, it might help somebody to leave his way to hell. @@theblackflag2020 Hello ! I have studied this issue of the location of Sodom quite a bit, and enough to say that the site Wyatt proposed is contrary to the site the Scriptures describe. I am also aware that the site Wyatt is proposing (the area off the southwestern coast of the Dead Sea) has been subjected to archaeological surveys and professionals have determined that there is nothing of archaeological significance where Wyatt thinks Sodom was located. Even though there are some traditional sites in the area (Lot's Wife and Mt. Sodom), these are strictly natural geological features and do not have any significance in determining the actual location of Sodom. As you said Wyatt saw the geological structures on the west side of the Dead Sea and his imagination lead him to think he saw windows and doorways in these structures, so he jumps to the unmerited conclusion that these structures are ruins of the buildings of Sodom. Unlike real professional archaeologists, Wyatt (who has a poor understanding of the discipline of archaeology) NEVER called in professional geologists and geological consultants (or any consultants of any kind). He relied on his training as a nurse and his imagination to make these interpretations. Geologists have completely dismissed the idea that these structures are man made.They are without a doubt natural geological structures. These same kinds of geological structures are found all around the Dead Sea - we know the buildings of Sodom did not surround the Dead Sea ! Wyatt also never conducted any excavations which would have provided verifiable evidence as to whether these structures were man-made or natural. Only gullible, naive people will believe Wyatt's imagination, of Wyatt's Sodom, without any real tangible verifiable evidence. A major consideration that that students of the Scriptures will be aware of is that The Scriptures provide us with the general location of Sodom and the cities of the plain (Kikkar), and Wyatt's Sodom does NOT fit the description of the location given in the Scriptures. Wyatt and his followers are generally not people who study the Scriptures deeply and in a scholarly manner. This is clear in Wyatt's many Scriptural blunders. He likes to chose and use certain Scriptures that support his ideas, at the exclusion of of the significant points of Scripture that question Wyatt's interpretations, and his followers are never the wiser. Bottom line. - Wyatt should have used the Scriptures to find the location of Sodom, not his imagination - But Wyatt ignored what the Scriptures said about the issue. Wyatt also ignores established protocols of archaeological field work, the use of specialists to help understand the issues accurately and the importance of record keeping and professional verification. Why people would consider Wyatt has anything creditable to say Is a bit of a mystery, until one hears him speak. He is a master of storytelling and that is how he is able to appeal to those, who don't have the mind of the Bereans. Be Well, DZ.

Zoar as determined by the Madaba Mosiac map as being on the south-east shore of the upper basin of the Dead Sea. It was only 3-5 miles away from Sodom. Lot later left Zoar and went to live in a cave in the hills. He produced a son with his daughter. That son was named Moab. Moab is the country where Zoar is on the Madaba Map.

Bab-Edh-dhra and Numeira don't seem to match up imho. The reason (in my own words) is as follows: Genesis 10:19 describes a viewpoint on the south east of the Dead Sea (directly east of Gaza) looking northwards towards Sodom, Gomorrah etc. as far as Laish (Dan) in the far north a the foot of Mt.Hermon. An additional clue for the location of cities of the plain on the east of the Jordan is found in one of the Ebla tablets, which lists Damascus immediately before the five(six) cities of the plain, just as Genesis 14 mentions Abram chasing the invading kings on their way home north past Damascus, after initially confronting them at Dan (on the east bank of the Jordan). The eastern Jordan plain matches this description slightly better, being east of the Jordan and in greater proximity to Damascus. A more compelling argument however is that the inheritance of Lot in the mountains which he fled to are Ammon and Moab, whose mutual border lies south east of Jericho. The location of Bab-Edh-dhra and Numeira instead are located further south in the territory of Edom (Esau), the people of Abraham’s grandson that occupied this area not long after, south of Moab. Thus the East-Jordan-plain or ‘northern hypothesis’ for the cities of the plain seems more plausible compared to the traditional sites of Bab-edh-dhra and Numeira. The only convincing evidence for the southern hypothesis is a 6th century AD byzantine map which places Zoar in the circular and admittedly very ‘kikkar’(disc)-like peninsula on the south east side of the dead sea. However this association may have arisen erroneously prior to or during the Byzantine period just as it has arisen today from the same presuppositions concerning a circular salted and desolated plain. Additionally, evidence for a catastrophic airburst event in the eastern Jordan plain exists dated to the Middle Bronze Age (MBII) period, whilst during this same period Bab-edh-dhra and Numeira had both been long abandoned, and although evidence exists for their sudden destruction and burning, there exists no matching evidence for any cosmic event that would match the description of fire from the sky as described in Genesis 19. Therefore the best conclusion regarding these two sites is destruction by an unrelated natural disaster. An additional scriptural mention which seems to suggest a location for Sodom south of Jerusalem and which did cause me a degree of doubt is Ezekiel 16:46-56. However Ezekiel is very poetic with a lot of flair, and the context of Sodom's mention is this: Your mother was a Hittite (north), your father an Amorite (south), your elder sister is Samaria (North) and your younger sister is Sodom (south). All that can be certain is that Sodom is south of Samaria, and this doesn't necessitate being south of Jerusalem. The verse is just picking the nearest centres of evil in the north and south respectively and is not a geographical survey. Additionally the southern-most Amorites were located in the eastern Jordan plain, and there is no evidence of Amorite inhabitation further south of this, where instead the tribes of Edom dwelt.

It seems like the KJV has a significant amount of mistranslations and not inconsequential ones. I don’t understand why so many people insist that it is the “right” Bible outside of that’s just what they’ve been told their entire lives.

@Silverheart1956 Ай бұрын
Dear @jlouutube65 But Wyatt did not consult the Biblical Scriptures to see where the Bible says Sodom and the cities of the Kikkar was located. The result there is the Biblical location of Sodom based on the Bible. and there is Wyatt's Sodom, base on Wyatt's speculations and imagination. I chose to follow the Biblical location, instead of Wyatt's Sodom. DZ

Am fascinated by this story. Yes I agree that burning Sulfur balls likely devastated the two cities and they evidence is in the Sulfur balls still present in the grounds close by. But my question is where did they come from. I understand that sulfur balls come from Volcanic activity so this should also be looked at and researched. Also, was it volcanic activity that ignited the sulfur balls as the tradition states is was "raining brimstone". So this means they were likely ejected at the same time ?.

According to R.Wyatts records it is not volcanic sulfur, which is yellow and is less pure than the white sulfur found at the site

Joel Kramer shows a different location than Wyatt. Ron thought, that Gomorrah would be found right and left of the parking place under Masada, the destroyed cities Zoar, Sodom, Gomorrah, Adama and Zebojim being in one line on the western banks of the dead sea. Those are the areas., where You still find the sulfur balls. I believe, that Ron found the right places, but i'm still wondering if God transformed it so completely that there was only a boiling mess with brimstone and fire. Then the valleys are just wadis cut into the ashes by desert rainfalls. Or if HE wants us to get more proof, that this once were cities. Right before my drilling i was in Jerusalem and spoke with people whom the police withheld from coming to their homes for hours - because the police had to protect a "pride parade". The first word the Bible uses to describe the sins of S.& G. is "Pride"!

Are you saying the sulfur balls were a kind of napalm? Like a “mud” ball of sulfur, held together with crude oil (?) and raining down like a cluster munition? Also, the Russian natural explosion and has from earthquakes with gas could explain general destruction. How did these natural events nail 4 cities and spared 1? It looks like targeting to me.
