Excavator Clay Stump Build

2 жыл бұрынThis is my attempt to build a turtle-proof stump hide for my most destructive turtle. She consistently has unburied past hides, over turns them and destroys just about everything in her enclosure. So we thought using excavator clay might provide a hide she can't destroy or move.

I'm planning on using excavator clay for my 20 gallon long (30x12x12) to cover three of the sides for my Chinese Cave Gecko. About how much do you think I'd need, if you're not sure it's fine. If I need more I'll probably just get more. Also, really nice build, it looks amazing, I might use this as inspiration for a built-in hide for my future gecko

Depends on what you intend to build but I would suggest planning to 20 pound bags to be safe. You can recycle it. Break it up put it in a bucket and get it wet and you can build all over again.

You may want to wear a hair band and will keep the hair hold up. Nice build and great idea, could the pet dig the clay after it hardens and cause the entire structure to collapse?

The clay mixture gets quite hard after drying. It takes a bit to break it up after that, but is reusable. If you choose to redecorate you can break it apart and mix with water and start all over again.
