In this video I'll show you how to count cells in Excel, how to count cells including text AND values, how to count cells with only text, and how to count the number of times specific text occurs in a range.

Thanks for the video. Suppose you have the following text in a cell "ex123 and ex234" and you want to calculate the number of times "ex" appear in that cell. How is it done.

Hi there. If the ex is in the same cell it isn't easy in Excel. You could try copying the content of the cell into a new Word document, then place your insertion point at the top of the document, press Ctrl + F to open the 'Navigation' pane. Type ex into the 'Search' box and press ENTER. Word will show a 'Result' below the Search box. This will show how many times the ex was found in the document. I hope this helps.
