What if you're not trying to create a pivot? What if you want a column in a flat table to display the related value from the other table?

Assuming your tables are stored in Excel's data model, you would use DAX, and specifically the RELATED function, to create a calculated column to retrieve values from another related table

@@ExcelMaven Thx! But isn't the data model for pivots? I don't want to pivot. Also, i'd like the user to enter values on the worksheet, and have another column in the same table display the lookup. I don't see how to do that with the data model.

@@johnywhy4679 Excel's data model is for compressing data and creating efficient relational models to join tables (vs. storing data in worksheets and using cell functions like VLOOKUP for joins). Sounds like what you're trying to do would be better suited for traditional cell formulas (assuming you aren't dealing with massive amounts of data), although it's tough to tell without the full context.
