Reading this book was such a comforting experience, and not all challenging, as I thought it would be considering this was my first Tolstoy. I was so hooked on to the emotional element that Tolstoy sketched around the protagonist’s character (called Nikolenka) that I carried this book with me everywhere I went only so that I could read a little bit more.

This kind of content on Book reviews is rare and that's where Read a Day fills in the gap - A combination of reading excerpts and a wonderful interpretation on the entire reading experience. And I hate YT algorithm to see how underappreciated this channel is!

"Has it ever happened to you, reader, ..." I got Charlotte Bronte/Jane Eyre vibes from that quote. I am thoroughly enjoying this channel!

Hi, Amreen! This one was, too, a nice one. Merging human experiences with nature against a backdrop of almost surreal settings in a way that is captivating for the reader seems like a new genre that I am recently cultivating an interest for. I feel like it doesn't even have to be true always, the shared experiences I mean, to pull in a reader as long as the words are able to speak through that personal filter that almost all of us conjure up when indulging with anything and anyone. Like I have actually read pieces that I thought would provoke me to think about certain aspects of how I actually go about my life on days but turned out to be banal instead that I hardly wanted to finish after. You know, someone once said to me that generally the interest for philosophy arises by the stuff we watch and the books we read, and even reading excerpts from Tolstoy's makes it hard for me to not go and grab the same. I'd definitely try to pick up one from the trilogy and not just going for a Murakami novel instead. And really thanks to you for talking about books and making a video about it that I genuinely see forward to, and not just for grasping views. Much love and appreciation.

Hey Rajat.. Wow, you've put down your thoughts so accurately. I find that hard to do sometimes, you know to convey exactly what I'm thinking or feeling at a certain point of time as a result of something I read. Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching our videos. It means a lot to us both! :) And yeah, read the whole book as a single entity, don't leave gaps. Otherwise, the rhythm of the trilogy won't get through. And let me know once you read it all. Would love to hear your thoughts!

@@ReadADayClub I'll surely try to remember sharing with you my take on the trilogy. And yeah, it is good anyway, indeed, to lose your train of thoughts here and there. It's a sign that you're temporarily getting ahead of your mind only to let it catch you and be bewildered at the realisation that you were this able at the first place. I don't know why I said it's a good thing. Or wait, maybe it is. Like you know, on those days when you don't feel like doing anything and be un-productive as you can be about something and just can't get something out of your mind , that is probably you losing to your mind's ability to take hold of things, literally. So, I guess it's all payback. 😌

Yes, I've read Don Quixote, although I'm going to reread it pretty soon. Ah that book was a pure delight! I don't think I've 'enjoyed' a book as much as I enjoyed Don Quixote. The humor, writing style, and just the whole aura of the protagonist are very fascinating. I read it a while back, so I can't really talk about the specifics, which is why a second read is essential for such a large book!
