Before breakfast, Kiyomasa and Annie were playing nicely indoors.
Shabani seems irritated with Kiyomasa.
During breakfast outside, when Shabani approached Kiyomasa, Kiyomasa avoided Shabani.
It seemed that Shabani was quite aware of Kiyomasa.
Shabani was suddenly chasing around Kiyomasa.
Annie was very impressive as she watched them anxiously.

Nene: Female Born in 1972 (estimated)

Shabani was born in the Appenheul Primate Park, Netherlands.
Nene was born wild in Cameroon.
The other three were born in the Higashiyama Zoo in Japan.

I don't know what the zoo is waiting for. They needed to get Kiyomasa out of there yesterday. He's not far away from full maturity, so it's just a matter of time until there is a fight and one of them (most likely Kiyomasa) is either severely injured or killed. It seems like it's every video it's just aggressive behavior between these 2. I don't blame the Gorilla's for this, they are only doing what comes natural to them.

You have no idea what you’re saying. These Zoos have very well educated zookeepers who know animal behavior an care for these endangered animals. Watching these videos does not make you an expert nor is it providing an accurate view of what’s going on. Kiyo is a spoiled boy but very young in maturity. Shabani has to assert his authority as Silverback as Kiyo continues to do things that challenge the silverback. The situation in Japan regarding gorillas is complicated and for those reasons it’s not as simple as just move them. Move them where?

This is what makes me angry about zoos in Japan. Their primate care is not up to other country's standards (I think in part because they're privately owned?) So other countries don't exchange primates for any length of time. Zoos know that babies bring in much needed revenue, so they're all for it, without thinking of the future and what it means as the babies grow up. Growing youngsters torment the elders because there's not a lot of room to do things they would naturally be doing, INCLUDING young males leaving the troop to form bachelor groups. In these close quarters, fights are going to break out and I can only hope that no one is fatally injured, as was Genki's mom. While I'm in the minority because so many people want Gentaro/Annie together, I'm praying that the new enclosure being built will encourage cooperation between the zoos and that they will make it a bachelor enclosure for Gentaro, Kiyo, et al and that would give both zoos a solution while at the same time (one would hope) that they could built additional enclosures for new family quarters.

Does anyone know what plans for the future are for kiyo at all,they don't tell ppl much about anything in the way of planning ahead.I have been watching the last couple of weeks Shabani and Ai hanging with each other more and kiyo trying to get close to Ai and Shabani hasn't liked it,so I think that has been the problem for the recent spats they are having or maybe it's just to stamp his authority to keep him in check,but that is their way of life,can't have 2 silverbacks in a troop one has to go.

To me it looks like Shabani is keeping the pressure on Kiyomasa to submit 🤔 Kiyo looks scared & tries to avoid Shabani's gaze. It's not a happy troop anymore. This makes me incredibly sad.😢

Kiyomasa is the only one that gives Shabani 😊affection. The females allow Kiyomasa to touch them, but not Shabani. This situation musjt be frustrating for Shabani.

Kiyo isn't like Gentaro he is still terrified of shabani and shabani is way nicer than momotaro so kiyo wouldn't know what to do if his dad was as aggressive as momotaro

Momo isn't aggressive at all. He has been very calm considering gentaro has been threatening him 24 7. I guarentee you when kyomasa gets to that point, shabani won't be so laid back. Lol

@@bigboytoyz541, Momo has a more hard personality than Shabani and it’s well documented. Shabani plays much more with his children and let them take food from him. Momotoro wouldn’t never permit his kids to take food from him And it’s the truth!

@@stevemorris6790 he lets kintaro take food from him all the time. I don't see any of the kids taking food from shabani either. But I think momo is a lot more laid back than people give him credit for. How do you think shabani would react if gentaro was throwing tires and hitting him, trying to start trouble 24,7. I think momo has done pretty good.

⁠@@stevemorris6790I agree, Shabani's sensitivity and deep rooted love for his troop to me is unbelievable while watching him display his deep feelings of fatherhood and general caretaker to the others. I'm not an authority by any means but I haven't witnessed any of his fellow apes so finely tuned with his family as is Shabani..

IDK 🤷‍♀️,,, I wonder if Kayo was trying to mate with Ai downstairs?? Because it really aggravated Shabani when Kayo made it with her before. And if you remember after that,Ai had a couple of gaping wounds.

Kiyomasa wants to mate with Ai, but Ai rejects Kiyomasa. Mating between Kiyomasa and Ai will not happen.
