FIRST PLANTS in the NEW PRODUCTION GREENHOUSE! After all the months watching it go up (and so many other projects in the past 4 years) this feels like a real "I was there when..." kind of event! So exciting to see it happen. CONGRATULATIONS! 🎉 😎

Thank you Miss Jenny and Jerry, just put an order in for the double up begonias, a plant that I planted a couple of years ago, but my big box store seems to never have lately. Excellent price for these, compared to other online retailers. Thank you for offering PW to all of us. Yvonne Weaver😁👍

You're so right about a plant that might not be right for our area. I used to listen to someone from a northern state, who suggested some plants. I planted them and they wilted in our climate. That's why I like listening to you because you're more local to me. Thanks Jenny.

So excited to see the first plants in the new greenhouses! And I love that PW is bringing us some new lines, and many fit that cottage garden aesthetic.

Thalictrum ( pronounced thal-ic-trum ) is a popular plant in English cottage gardens. Very beautiful and ethereal. Foliage is lovely. Only negative l can think of is they do benefit from a little grooming as the summer goes on or they can look a little tired.

Hello from Colorado! Thank you for sharing Walter's Gardens website. I was able to locate a grower in Colorado. I've found several plants I would love to put in my backyard. So! I can't wait to see if they sell to the public. Again, thanks for sharing the website. ~Annette

A common name for thalictrum (that you were talking about around the 25:05 mark) is chinese meadow rue!! And agreed, it has this gorgeous foliage a bit like a maidenhair fern - so light and airy and a beautiful green! I have another variety (Delvayi) lining the back of one of my borders and it is so lovely. The kind of plant that towers above everything else with these gently nodding sprays of purple blooms, but doesn't take up any visual space. Makes layers!

🎉This is such an achievement for Creekside. So excited!!! 🍃 Is the SUN HOSTA part of the Proven Winner's line yet? It flourishes here in my garden Zone 8a Milton FL. (Full Sun) Also will any of these new introductions make their way into the Signature Garden at some point?
@GardeningwithCreekside
@GardeningwithCreekside 6 ай бұрын
Thank you! No, the Sun hosta is what we call a non-branded plant, and I am dying to add it to my garden. We were able to get it last summer, but we sold out before I could grab one. Darn it! It is my hope that many of these new perennials will thrive here so they can end up in the Signature Garden, but I will patiently wait to see how they perform before adding them.

Oh my gosh, Jenny! I’m guess I’m most excited about the new spiderwort. I can’t even remember when there was a new one. I did have a whitish sport come up in my old traditional purple that I isolated and saved. Also, a reblooming Baptisia sounds wonderful.

I feel we need, on the species lable, the Ph factor on new plants. I never remove new roots for at least 3 years if they fail to produce. I have had MANY of these just pop up on correct conditions for the growing season for those plants. Must say, many do have an incredible will to thrive!

I’m so excited about the Thalictrum, also known as meadow rue. I tried to find it online from a different company last year after seeing my neighbor’s meadow rue bloom beautifully all summer in shade here in zone 8b Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it. We have such cool nights and less humidity. I’m curious what it will do for you. I hope it works, so I can order from you someday.

Once we get good growth on the new perennials (both root & top growth) & the outdoor temperatures are more even I will add them to the gardens. It’s a pretty informal process - it’ll be clear if they are a good fit for our climate or not 😉

I found at least 4 different origins. In French (just because I live here and both languages come up in my googling) and English ... An ancient pagan fertility celebration, a priest, a sacrificial animal ceremony ... I guess we have an abundance from which to choose😅😊.
