As far as CPA is concerned, I was excempted cpa part one and one unit in sec 3, that is CA32 : Financial management. --that was in 2018. Could you advice me mwalimu on how am to continue.. this is 2024.

Hello Alex, you will retain your exemptions though with the reshuffling of the units with the new syllabus I would advise you to get in touch with KASNEB

Does that mean that a person who registered in 2010 and still in section 3 and wants to resume and finish is not possible?

It's very possible. Actually, this rule will be effective from 1st Jan 2024. Those who had registered earlier will start counting as from 1st Jan 2024.

Hello CPA Aringo👋. I have a question, you said that the tax rate for Non resident companies is now 30% but this will not apply in the April siting. Now my Advanced Taxation lecturer contradicts and says that the new rate will apply in this siting because it was passed at the financial year 2023 but now we are in 2024. So it must apply. So which is which?

Hello, kindly refer this to the amendments of ITA (CHANGES OF FINANCE ACT 2023). Quoted below Reduced Income Tax Rate for a Permanent Establishment (PE) (Effective 1st January 2024) Non-resident companies having a PE in Kenya will pay income tax at a reduced rate of 30% from the current 37.5%. This amendment seeks to encourage non-residents to conduct business in Kenya and boost foreign direct investment.

Any amendments that are with effect from Jan 2024 for exam purposes they won't affect you this year because your exams are usually based on the last financial year not unless you're asked of the current financial year which is unlikely

In regard to what will affect you in this year exam in relation to non-resident is as stated below, this is with effect from July 2023. Allowable deductions for non-residents with a PE (Effective 1st July 2023) The following expenses (which were non-deductible) will now be deductible expenses for income tax purposes: • Remuneration to non-whole-time non-resident directors of a non-resident company who have a controlling interest of more than 5% of the income of that company; and • Executive and general administrative expenses incurred outside Kenya by a non-resident person.

So in section 5 there are 4 subject

😊😊😊, we don't have section 5, it's called advanced level. At this level, we have 4 compulsory units and 1 or 2 selective out of the 3 available. You can take either of the 3 units or all the units at once.
