The Munsters behind the scenes interview with Butch Patrick is a must for every Munsters fan out there! John and Butch have a blast chatting about everything from Butch first being discovered as a child actor by a producer walking on Hollywood Boulevard, to his stories of his fellow Munsters cast members and the comedy of Fred Gywnne and Al Lewis, to working with Walter Brennan, Burt Lancaster, Fred MacMurray (My Three Sons) and The Monkees. In this candid interview, Butch discusses his special relationship with Yvonne DeCarlo (who played Lily Munster on the show) later in her life, as well as his future plans for a permanent Munsters memorabilia display at Indiana Beach Amusement park and ballroom. Butch is as genuine and down-to-earth as it gets, and it's clear that he has a real passion for The Munsters and its place in pop culture history. Makes me so happy you found it! It is my pleasure and I love interviewing all the people I am able to track down. I think one of the best aspects of the interviews is being able to take us all back to that special time in our lives. I am actually going to be interviewing Pat again this month and she will be answering fan questions that were emailed to me at thatsclassictv@gmail.com. So send me a question for her and I will ask it. The Munsters will go on forever!

Butch was a very talented kid actor and is still very sharp. He looks like a cross between Sid Melton and Richard Crenna now to me. Also like an old friend of my late dad named Paul Ricker. My folks took us to Universal studios (tour) when we were kids and we saw Al Lewis in full makeup during a lunch break from filming. He and Fred Gwynne had already been a great comedy team in ‘Car 54 where are you?’ before the Munsters.

That is so cool Kelly! I would have loved to have seen Al Lewis at that time in makeup as Grandpa. Butch is very much like a big kid and I hope he never loses that.😀

When I met Butch and was asking him a question about the Monkees, he had someone come up to him, say something to him, and he just walked away. I was really disappointed in my experience with him. I am glad however he answered my question here. As a side note, I used to work for Maurice Ansara, Michael's brother, when he owned a restaurant here in Toledo.

Really enjoyed this, John! You got an awful lot covered within the hour+ interview - great questions!! - Butch is one of the most interesting people in showbiz EVER! So, really great job, John. On a side note, glad you discussed the new Netflix The Munsters movie, too. I watched it, typical Rob Zombie, and I actually did like it more than I thought I would - and I did hear Pat Priest's voiceovers! - but I wanna give a special shout-out in particular to Daniel Roebuck who does a masterful job at Grampa! He is a very good actor and was able to get the spirit of Al Lewis infused into his performance while still making it all his own. Well done, Daniel!

Al Lewis' make-up was "off" first few episodes. Good question: When did they decide to change his male-up? Beverly Ownes (TOTAL BABE) wore a wig...who knew? Butch was a natural...he played the adult in his resoning and delivery of his lines..So perfect.

That is very interesting about Grandpa and I agree that Butch had the adult delivery (wise beyond his years) down.😀
