President of Guyana Irfaan Ali spoke exclusively with WION during India visit. The President was on a week-long India visit which he started from Indore. In Indore he attended the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. Speaking exclusively with our diplomatic correspondent Sidhant Sibal, he lauded India's economic growth and how it has been "leading in the game of technology, food production, environmental Services, human resource development for some time now." He also spoke on Russia-Ukraine conflict, climate change, Oil exports to India among other things.

A few decades ago there was no leader with a global vision in India. The need too had not arisen. Guyana too, like many African economies, were the looting grounds of global powers. Today, Africa, like India, is finally waking up. They have both been sleeping giants. I see a very bright future when more sensible leaders, not propped up by foreign powers with selfish agendas, start speaking up for their African motherlands. The future never looked more exciting.

A vey good interview that was rather spoilt towards the end by attempting to exploit the presidents Indian heritage by forgetting the gravitas of his position and asking him to reduce that with a rendition of a Bollywood song. He graciously declined, then alleviated the stupidity of the host by promising to dance at his daughters wedding. However the journalist should bear in mind he is speaking to the head of a country and conduct the interview with regard of what he represents in mind.
