Looked at both, went with the Rubicon. It depends what you want the truck for. I will never go rock crawling, and I would never go "jump" my Jeep. Both are about the same price. For me it was the Rubicon because it comes with lockers both front and rear, sway bar disconnects, and a crawler transfer case which I would find more useful than shocks to go dune jumping. IF the Mojave was less money than maybe. Personally, I would have loved to see Jeep do the Willy's edition with a rear locker with perhaps a posi font diff and a price tag lower than that of the Rubicon. Lastly, for the Mojave to really come into it's own for high speed desert racing/jumping it needs a V8.

Jeep, forget the parts bin mix and match editions that overlap each other but lack the rubicon's off road features. Produce versions of the JL/JT that come from the factory with locked 44's, this flexy suspension(fox shocks), manual front sway bar disconnects, real skid plates, big brakes and 35's. Give it 4.30 gears with 4:1 t case(make 2.71 a no cost). Throw on metal bumpers and call it whatever you want. Make all engines available and use the cooling system from the JT.

Personally, I think the Mojave package is Jeep's best idea in years. A lot of people in this area buy Rubicons as a status symbol. We don't have a lot of highly technical rock crawling trails around here. Most of the offroading I do can be accomplished with 4wd and open diffs or 2wd and a rear locker. For me, the Mojave makes more sense than the Rubicon, and if I can ever afford a Gladiator, I'll definitely look for one.

@flyingburrito6579 4 жыл бұрын
But do you really need the rear locker when at high speed though? And if so , is it impossible to do after the fact? Well i guess well see how popular this will be in actual desert running, or if it will be a show off vehicle that is mostly used onroad..,
@soliloquist
@soliloquist 4 жыл бұрын
All trophy trucks run full spools in the rear (basically welded axels). Anything with solid axels that is a pre-runner will be locked or spooled in the rear. So yes, when doing high speed stuff in the desert you "need" a rear locker. Guys running Independent suspension will be open diff so they don't blow the CV joints. As for doing it after the fact, I have no idea. I imagine it is just a software thing, but that does not mean that Jeep won't make it VIN specific and lock out (ha-ha) the Rubicon owners. Which would mean they would have to go full aftermarket to get this feature. I would guess you are correct, in that most of these will be "show off" vehicles that get mostly used on pavement. But to show off proper you have to have the goods ;) . In the end if you are just playing in the sand - run-what-you-brung and have fun!
@flyingburrito6579

Im just not so sure people buying these will ever use them as hardcore as to need that locker, thropy trucks have some serious power advantange over the pentastar, dont they?😉 but yeah need to have the goods, but if i was doing this seriously, i wouldnt rely on a stock factory vehicle anyway.

TL;DR: Standard Wrangler (i.e. no Rubicon features) with remote reservoir shocks. Rubi is $55.3k, Mojave is $60.8k.

So let’s see. You lose front locker and sway bar disconnect. You get fancy color scheme and shocks. Then charge way over premium. Sounds like a great deal to me!😄😄😄😄

Regarding that fancy shmancy top for the jeep,... what do you do about all the dust from the BRONCO in front of you? Lol, just kidding couldn't resist.

Can you lay your hands on a zero option Gladiator with a 6 speed manual and put it up against these two top dogs and compare how it stacks up in comparison? What does a $35,000 base model get you verses the $55,000 to $60,000 Rubicon and Mohave. (I will relent and let you use a zero option Gladiator S with the optional lockup rear axle.) you may not be bothered by 50+ for a Jeep, but some of us, saving 25k to 30k makes the difference between getting a gladiator vs keeping our old truck.

i do not believe for one second that FCA did anything to that frame. also, thanks FCA for making us pay more for less! you stole a page right out of the porsche/ferrari playbook.

@@mattbrew11 i'd love to see what they actually did to the frame. also, what is easier/cheaper to do, add some shocks or add a locker and a transfer case?

So they bash the Tundra for having a fake hood scoop but on the Jeep it’s ok?

I think the Rubicon is a better deal price wise but the Mojave is one cool truck. Wish the Mojave would have had the grey/white leather seats those are sweet.
