Lighthouse Communications founder Anne Ricketts shares 5 tips for women on how to develop a more commanding executive presence when communicating. These tips enable women to get their message across with more persuasion and impact. This is especially critical as more and more companies in the male-dominated fields of science, tech, engineering, and math (STEM) need women to be fully engaged, especially as leaders. Making strong communication skills more important than ever.

Over the years, Lighthouse Communications has had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients from start-ups and individual professional speakers, to Women and LGBTQIA+ groups, and those underrepresented in tech. The LHC team is proud to represent individuals from a variety of backgrounds because we know it makes our team, curriculum and workshops better when we can identify and connect with our diverse audiences.
Most importantly - no matter a client’s level of experience, background or story, we are here to help strengthen the voices of those that have something to say and need to be heard. Contact us at info@lhctraining.com for information about workshops and coaching.

Uptalk is a great topic! I use uptalk with friends in conversation all the time. It’s a great way to sound collaborative. But when I’m delivering a presentation - especially to a more formal crowd, I end my sentences with a downward inflection. So powerful!

That last one is so spot on! When people do that, they lose credibility when sentences sound like a question rather than a statement.

In daily conversation, we use uptalk to convey a mood of collaboration. But when a presenter uses uptalk, it can make them sound unsure of themselves. Turn habits into choices.

I'd change 'male-dominated' to male originated. If the MGTOW are correct, and ghosting or opting out continues, more women will have to work more with women since men won't be around or will simply work less. Then you can found the STEM business culture as you envision it. We need one another but I'm not kidding myself that the sexes are interchangeable.

Tip to command more credibility in a video? Use a microphone close to the talent / speaker, and never use the built-in mic on a video camera.
