American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) immediate past president Robert E. Sallis, M.D., FACSM, announces a new program developed by the ACSM called Exercise is Medicine™. This program is designed to encourage America's patients to incorporate physical activity and exercise into their daily routine and calls on doctors to prescribe exercise to their patients. The California Governor's Council has taken a leadership position with this initiative by signing up thousands of doctors to begin prescribing exercise to their patients.
