Today we start training the higher register, that is, tones around f3 and g3.
I'll show you a method that you can use to train your body to withstand this high pressure.
Initial Consideration:
We need higher lip frequency, hence lip tension, forward tongue position, and solid support. Due to the narrower air passage of our lips, the pressure in our body increases, but less air flows overall! You have to be aware that it is not the amount of air that determines your altitude, but the air speed! 👍
Important! The pressure from the mouthpiece on the attachment muscles does not increase, on the contrary, the mouthpiece only seals to the attachment sufficiently so that the air and the generated frequency are transferred to the mouthpiece and instrument.
Now it's time to transfer this to the trumpet. 🎺
We play with little air but high air pressure/compression, sustained tones. Always do this exercise after playing the trumpet so that your lip muscles can recover afterwards. Regeneration is extremely important!
The sound is generated far forward at the tip of the lips. Very little air flows, but very quickly.
