Not long ago I served as a PT instructor (physical training) in the military. I remember a lot of people were excited from the whole CrossFit concept. I strongly objected to this practice because I saw it as a path that doesn't bring real results, unless you count injuries as results. I told people to focus on the basic, make sure you do the actual exercise correctly and that you focus on the quality and not quantity.

Just like there is no crossfit deadlift. It depends entirely on the lifter's antrophometry.
@ah70276 жыл бұрын
Crossfitters tend to squat similar to Olympic lifters. And there is a difference between Olympic squatting and powerlifters squatting. That doesn't mean every crossfitters squats like an Olympic lifter. But almost no powerlifters will do an Olympic lifting squat since olympic lifters squat atg and powerlifters aim to just break parallel. Neither of those is right or wrong it's just what's more practical for their sport.
@brois8416 жыл бұрын
Aaron, there's no such thing as an "Olympic lifting squat" because it's not a contested lift in weightlifting. It's a byproduct of having to catch the snatch and clean. If squatting were a contested lift, weightlifters would be doing it the same way as powerlifters, because it's the most efficient way of doing a squat. In weightlifting, squatting is an accessory exercise. Anyway, since the CrossFit games call for a squat, they call for a SQUAT. Your anthropometry determines your ideal squat, not whether you identify as a powerlifter, strongman, weightlifter or a gymnast.

Madelyn Weaver, the fact is CrossFit is a coached sport. It's not something most learn themselves in a basement. Most of these people belong to a box, pay lots of money and have "coaches" monitoring them. The fact that their coaches allow them to get to this level and not fix their form is inexcusable. It's not a reflection on the athlete as much as it is on the box/organization/training requirements.

As the word ‘fitness’ is about a broad range of physical activities, she is correct as there is no competition (in the world, ever) that assesses who is the best at so many different things. Even an Olympic decathlete can get away with not swimming, biking and the furthest they run is 1500m so no real endurance event. Give your cousin a high five and go about your day hating on stuff that doesn’t concern you!
@Kevin-xt3wj6 жыл бұрын
Current WR decathlete marks. 100m=10.21/ LJ=27'/ SP= 50'6"/ HJ= 6'11" 400m=45.00/ 110HH= 13.35/ DT=155'4.5"/ PV 17'8.5"/ JT= 218'7.5" and a 4:14 1500m. No crossfitter could ever touch any of those marks if they trained their whole life, had the best coach and juiced like crazy. Shot put maybe the only thing but he obliterates them in everything. That's why decathlon is notorious with being called "the worlds greatest athletes". Also he ran a 15 min 5k so no endurance my ass ha Not to mention he did it all clean ;)

Likely a dumb or obviously question,but do these CrossFit men and women use steroids and performance drugs? Do they test? Do they claim to be squeaky clean natty to win endorsements?
@plusnightlife6 жыл бұрын
they use, and they test. people have been banned for positive tests.
@markd10596 жыл бұрын
Yes. 14 men and women were popped this year. The testing is random and at Crossfit's discretion. My money is on there would be no games if everyone was tested. And yes, all of these self-righteous cult members claim to be clean...and paleo... or keto ...or vegan. Whatever the diet fad of the month is.

Mark D'Angelo every athlete at the games is tested more than once during the games. Also tested at their regionals, and top level athletes are random tested throughout the year.
