The first date I had with a girl named Jane was a Jane's Addiction concert in 1991. She was my muse and the one true love of my life. This song takes me back to that night, dancing with her in my arms, it was electric, surreal and etherial. Needless to say some time later we parted ways, the impulsivity of youth. I never found another love like what I had with her. Years later when my wife left, I looked her up only to find she passed at 35. She was taken much too soon. She had it all brains, a beauty like few possess and a gentle soul. Here's to you Jane! I hope when I cross into eternity we will meet again but until that day comes you will always be in my heart and memory. The greatest first date ever with the greatest girl ever.

Wow 57? Were you born in '67 or '68? Can't believe how fast it's going by. Make it count I guess- right? Lately it's been more of a blur than usual, and I'm not liking that at all. Helps having access to literally all music ever made at your fingertips. Cool how the music triggers a Neuro-chemical reaction that brings you right back there.

Add *Shine On, You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-IX)* for similar effect. It's 28 minutes long, yes, but coming out of that half-hour listen, regardless if you do in a quiet, dark room or anywhere, inside your head with decent headphones, you'll see that half-hour investment in yourself walk you through an exponentially longer time of livable life both during listening, and the "echoes" it has on your mind, body, and emotions last really, really much longer than the 30 minute length of the piece itself. It's almost like a type of resetting and by luck or design, the effect never diminishes no matter how many times you need to experience the piece of music for the reasons we're sharing. For me, if I can manage just to start to listen to it, even if I feel like I can't handle it, or I struggle to even lift my head or my hand to start it playing, then it's kept me here when I was --either in long-planning, or in spontaneously-deciding-- that it was my time to head out the door. And, in those times, I didn't touch the handle, much less open the door. And I obviously never walked out it & left either, and I credit *Shine On, You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-IX)* . But you NEED to do all 9 parts simultaneously, "Parts I-IX" and not just the common, shorter "Parts I-V" --the lesser version is exquisite itself, but tragically misses fully 4 movements of the composition, and those are KEY. Keep *Shine On, You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-IX)* as an option for yourself, if you ever find you don't have many options, but REALLY NEED one.

@@go-nogo1475 Yeah its funny that was the experience I had with beethoven's 9th symphony. His last one. He wrote when he was completely deaf. And the last part is mind-blowing. My mom was in the ICU. On Thanksgiving. My dad had passed months earlier. And there was a 2 hour black out that night. So I just sat in the dark alon, with a flashlight, a bottle, and my cell, listening to that symphony, drinking, in the dark, while my mom was in the ICU on Thanksgiving. Amazing. The last part is called "Ode to Joy" It will make u smile by the end. And even want to sing along with the massive chorus that comes in at the end

Bands that are known as " one hit wonder's" get a bad rap sometimes, but I'd love to have just one song, if that's all I had, so be it, but to be in my car with someone who doesn't know much about me, and to have that one song come on the radio, and be able to say, " that's me" that my song, I was in a band in the mid 80's and this was are one hit. I just think anything like that, or maybe just a short scene in a movie, that would be awesome! just a fantasy I think about on occasion

This is a great example of how people used to enjoy a concert. Now you go to a concert and everyone is holding up their cellphone, filming for their Facebooks. If you go to a concert, just go to have a good time for yourself. Nobody really cares whether you were there or not, except yourself...

+rox290 Preach!! The kids these days have no idea what a good use of their time is- anywhere, it seems. Nobody really cares whether I was at the first Lollapalooza, but I was.... I have no pictures, and I'm not the slightest bit sorry about that. If anybody thinks I'm bull_____ing, well... I don't blame you.... but I also don't give a ______. I've got a full enough Facebook page as it is. Lolly 1 wasn't much to write home about. I think the one I saw was in Irvine or some other outdoor venue in the L.A. Area. I forget, b/c I went to a few JA shows up near L.A. and they all blend together in my memory. Anyway- the strongest memory I have of it was that the sound system SUUUUUUUUCKED. Literally the worst I've ever heard at a big money show. So, however cool I might wish to make you think my life was..... pretty much everyone sounded like _____ that day. If you think the whistling at the beginning of this vid is annoying, can you imagine a whole set by Siouxsie and the Banshees with the high notes breaking up almost every time? Trust me- don't feel like you missed out on anything for not being there- even if you like JA. They sounded just as bad as everyone else..... although now that I think about it, I think Henry Rollins was there that day, and I remember him as doing relatively well. Of course he's closer to a grunter than a shrieker. That helps. Another moment that I have no selfie for was the time when my L.A. model friend from my high school took me backstage to meet Perry Farrell. I have to give the dude credit though- he looked at me for about 3 seconds and nodded slightly at me. Because I'm not a complete idiot, I realize that this was not because he gave even a low-flying fuck about me, but he was trying to be courteous to the hot girl next to me. Anyway, from what I heard about him from her, he was pretty much the dick that you would expect him to be, but not all that much more than your average L.A. musician who got to hear people saying he fronted "the best band in the world." I liked JA's sound on record, but I saw them 3 times live and they never lived up to it. Overall, I'm not claiming they're crap live, b/c I might have easily just gone to the wrong shows. So no offense is really meant to the fans that still think they're great. I wanted to believe that for years... but I just didn't see the proof. Primus, on the other hand.....RULES.

LOL and being that the style for jeans has been very skinny for the past while, I'm sure our JNCOs & other ridiculously huge pants would be an odd sensation for kids today, but they were a hell of alot of fun to wear (Still can't figure out how people used to skateboard in those things, but they did, lol!). It is nice to say - I was actually in that mix on the floor of Hammerstein - they played there Oct. 30th as well. “The Cure” was also Downtown at Irving Plaza that night. Two smaller venues with great acts. I remember this moment - the walk thru the crowd at the beginning - From wherever I was on the floor - I couldn’t see they were heading to that equipment enclave. It was an island 🏝️ where bands really didn’t play. But it was set up for that this night. They were then among us. It was an awesome 😎 moment.

Jane's Addiction is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985. The band's original lineup consisted of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins. They are known for blending alternative rock, punk, and metal influences into their music, and for their dynamic live performances. "Jane Says" is a song by Jane's Addiction, released on their 1987 self-titled debut album. The song is a poignant acoustic ballad, featuring lyrics about a woman named Jane who is struggling with drug addiction and homelessness. Despite the serious subject matter, the song has a catchy melody and has become one of the band's most popular and enduring songs. It has been covered by numerous artists and has been featured in films and TV shows.

The only tune that ever choked me up . A great statement for a voice for some girl struggling ,but always has that hope that doesn't work but doesn't give up . True and pure optimist 😎
