fun fact: exid was about to disband due to not having a lot of traction (i think?? don’t quote me on that) and a fan posted a hani fancam of this song which lead this song to blow and get MILLIONS of views and it eventually got exid out of the ditch they were in and they’re still thriving and they haven’t disbanded to this day. edit: i just recently found out that it was about 30 million views that they gained on the video through the fancam

Then one day, someone uploaded a fancam of hani performing Up and Down and it went so viral, everyone was talking about it and the song got popular and that's how they started being big.

After DDD I came here. Up&down was their last chance, and they didn’t get attention till Hani’s fancam went viral. We wouldn’t have all other amazing comebacks after Up&down if Hani didn’t get attention with her fancam. I will always be grateful to Hani and her fancam. They are so talented and it’s so sad to think that this could have been their last comeback before disbandment. *I’m so proud of them*

Damn! This song is #5 on the gaon chart. It's kind of sad that the korean public didn't pay any attention to them until Hani's fancam which is nothing special but just her performing the song. Where were they when the song came out? Either way, I'm glad they are getting some recognition.

reyanime I don't think so, if this song had become popular because it is very sexy, ¿do you know how many girl groups they were on top now? there are many of groups of girls with sexy concepts that are not popular, especially those groups that passed the limit of "sexy" (Stellar, 4L, Wa$$up), however these groups are super irrelevant, so I don't think this has become popular only in the "sexy" part, I think the fancam of Hani, yes, maybe could have many visitors because the choreography is very "flashy" (especially the movement of hips) but really, I think this song has reached the top of the music charts, because for them it is very good (actually I also think it's very good), the fancam of Hani was only an opportunity to draw attention, also, please EXID deserves much, have a great rapper, who composed most of the songs for the group, and have powerful voices that should be recognized (Specially Solji and Hyerin), hopefully in the next Comeback EXID they can reach the No. 1 :) (sorry for my bad english).

NatsuDragneel77 Yeah the song is good but if that was the reason why it charted up so high then why didn't it when the song came out? It took several months for the song to chart and that's only b/c of Hani's fancam which like I said focuses on her body. It only got popular b/c of that. It really had nothing to do with the song itself. May be people realized it was actually a good song but they didn't come there for that originally. I'm glad they got noticed but it just makes me sad how it came to be.

I read that a group of fans were unhappy with the company's promotion efforts, so they went and promoted it underground somewhat (don't ask me how, I don't know what underground cyber Korea is) and eventually it came about and got more recognizable and suddenly it's kind of viral. If you look at some other fancams, it may be those fans who are reallllly loud in the audience.
