As with everything EXO does, including their solo work and sub-units, the stories in their MVs are all connected to EXO's larger storyline. So, the story in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" MV is telling another piece of EXO's story. In "Hey Mama," the widely accepted theory is that the Red Force has infiltrated the news media and they are controlling humanity through the news that is being broadcast on TV. The members of CBX have gone undercover to try and stop the Red Force. If you pay attention to how the people act when red colored objects are being used you will see that they act like they are in a trance or being controlled by something. For instance, the paper the newscaster reads from is red and the drinks the people are drinking in the conference room are red. And, if you notice, everyone, including CBX, is acting like robots or zombies -- as if they are in an trance -- when red is involved. But as soon as Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin get rid of the red paper and the red drinks, etc. the people start to come to life and act more normal. There is a lot more to this video, but that's just a small part of it. But one of the easiest, and most central, themes in all of EXO's MVs and everything they do, is the use of red. When you see the color red or red light this is used to symbolize something to do with the Red Force and it often shows how the Red Force is the ones that are in control of whatever is covered in red at that moment. As you can see, not only is EXO's story based on fantasy and sci-fi concepts, but it is partially based on real societal issues and events and topics that SM wants to shine a light on. When you really think about it, a lot of EXO's story is a social commentary on the problems and issues that we as humans are dealing with in real life -- such as environmental issues, war, technology, media (LOL "fake news"), etc. Also pay attention to the use of flowers when it comes to EXO. In this MV you see Baekhyun dropping flower petals down on Chen and they collect bunches of flowers and you see them burning them in the fire, etc. Although we are not positive what the real effect flowers have in EXO's story yet, in "Hey Mama" it seems as though the flowers help to bring them out of the trance that the Red Force is trying to trap them in. You will see instances of EXO using flowers in all different ways across a majority of their MVs and it's all tied to their storyline. I think the story in "Hey Mama" is connected to the story in "Horololo." In "Horololo" many people think that CBX are private investigators or detectives, and I agree, that could be their job. However, I like to think maybe they are investigative journalists, which would help explain how "Hey Mama" and "Horololo" are intertwined. Journalists have a lot of similarities to private detectives, especially during the 1950s, '60s. '70s '80s era, which both "Hey Mama" and "Horololo" MVs seem to be themed around.This also makes sense if you subscribe to the theory that there are alternate dimensions and maybe the members of EXO are even traveling through different time periods throughout history, etc. If you really pay attention, you can see how everything the members do is connected. The difficult thing is that almost nothing is in chronological order so in order to piece it together we fans have to become detectives and pay attention to even the most minute of details. As you can see, EXO-CBX is a sub-unit of EXO, made up of 3 of EXO's main/lead vocalists -- Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin, hence the name CBX. (Xiumin -- pronounced shoe-min or Shoo-min, X in Chinese is pronounced like the sh sound in English -- has always been known as a lead rapper in EXO-M, so yes, CBX allows him to show off his rap skills. But Baekhyun -- and sometimes Chen -- also becomes a rapper when they are a member of CBX, which is different than what we normally get to hear from them as a member of EXO.) This sub-unit was created because at the time Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin were the only members who didn't have any side projects. They were all in the gym working out together discussing what they should do while everyone else was working on other things, and their trainer suggested they form a sub-unit. So they took the idea to the company and SM agreed that they would make a good unit. Plus, CBX gives SM a chance to bring EXO more fully into the Japanese market. CBX focuses on the Korean and Japanese music industry. CBX releases Japanese songs and albums. They are one of SM's most popular sub-units and they are so popular that they have held their own concert tour with just their sub-unit. Also, fun fact: Did you notice how they had 6 backup dancers? With CBX there are always 6 backup dancers because 9 is a good number when it comes to formations in choreography, but fans think it's also supposed to mirror the fact that as members of EXO, even as a sub-unit they are still part of the main group. EXO's main group has 9 members so, the 6 backup dancers are supposed to be a visual representation of the rest of the members of EXO. EXO-CBX was EXO's first sub-sub-unit and some think that SM wanted to create a way to make it clear that just because they are a sub-unit doesn't mean that they aren't still connected to everything that makes them EXO.

In EXO-CBX's "Blooming Day" MV, as I am sure you noticed, throughout the MV CBX are surrounded by flowers. The song is called "Blooming Day" so the flowers are part of the theme, but fan theories also point to the fact that flowers play a prominent role in EXO's storyline as well. In the majority of EXO's MVs, and even in some of their live performances, you see flowers. It is thought that EXO may be collecting flowers because they will help them in their quest or they want to prevent the Red Force from using the flowers for evil. What you see them blending up is thought to be the flowers. In EXOs "Love Me Right" MV you will see Xiumin mixing a potion of some kind and that is also thought to be made of flowers, so we think this is somehow connected to the purple liquid you see him mixing in "Blooming Day" -- although I am still not sure what the potion will be used for. Also, if you notice, the liquid is purple, and usually when you see purple this represents an instance where the line between the Red Force and EXO are blurred -- red represents the Red Force and Blue represents EXO -- red and blue mixed together make purple. Some theories think that maybe Xiumin and Baekhyun are suspicious of Chen, that is why they seem to be trying to stop him from leaving or doing whatever he is trying to do. For instance, you saw Baekhyun with the slingshot hit Chen in the back of the head with a marble, which looks as though he is trying to stop or prevent Chen from doing something. Some think maybe Chen is a spy that has been brainwashed by the Red Force -- or maybe he is his evil X-EXO clone -- and Xiumin and Baekhyun are starting to suspect him. But, others think that maybe it's Chen who is the good guy and Xiumin and Baekhyun are acting as pawns in the Red Forces' game. However, my theory is that it is more likely that Baekhyun is the one with good intentions, because as evidenced in "Power," "Tempo," "Love Shot," and "Monster", etc. it looks as though Baekhyun may have been one of the members who has been able to avoid being controlled by the Red Force. We see Baekhyun singled out and involved in efforts to help EXO in multiple situations throughout EXO's storyline. You also see Xiumin with a key, and some theories say that is the key to unlock the door to another dimension or to release them from this room they are trapped in. It is thought that EXO are traveling through time periods and between dimensions in their search for the Tree of Life. And as part of their mission, they are also trying to fix and prevent the Red Force from corrupting humanity and destroying the planet. So, because of this, the Red Force is trying to prevent EXO from being able to accomplish their goals by trapping them or controlling them or putting roadblocks in their way, etc. In "Blooming Day" CBX also could be trapped in another room within the Red Forces' maze like we see in EXO's "Overdose," "Lucky One," and "For Life" MVs, etc. And they are all slowly coming out of the fog that the Red Force put them in, which allowed them to be captured in the first place. If you notice, the room that they are in in "Blooming Day" is pure white (the main colors you see are created by colored lights, not paint), and some theories think that white rooms are an indication that EXO are starting to gain back control. In the beginning of EXO's "Overdose" MV, we see that the maze is dark and grey and the members are unable to fight back because the Red Force has done something to dull their senses and cloud their minds. However, throughout their MVs you start to see EXO fighting back and conquering obstacles as the rooms and environments go from grey to white. So, Baekhyun hitting Chen in the head with the marble, could also be his way of knocking some sense into Chen and bringing him out of the fog the Red Force has had them trapped in. The cat that you see in this MV is also an important part of EXO's storyline. At different times a cat is thought to represent EXO-Ls or the heart of the Tree of Life. You will see a cat, which is thought to represent EXO-Ls in their "Power" MV. And there's a cat with an eye patch in EXO-CBX's "Crush U" MV, which theories say could possibly be the spirit of the heart of the Tree of Life. Cats also often have a place of honor and respect in a lot of monarchies and cultures throughout history. And EXO has been sent to Earth by a leader that they referred to as "Your Majesty," which we hear in "Mama." So it makes sense that the cat would have a place of honor in EXO's story, whether it represents us fans or the Tree of Life. When it comes to EXO, absolutely everything down to the smallest detail is done for a very specific reason and it's all designed to give hidden messages and meaning and to help tell another piece of EXO's story. So even the most expert of fans who have really analysed every detail with everything that EXO does, is still probably missing certain clues. You actually can never really over think anything in EXO's MVs, because if you think something means something, it probably does. There is never only one message being given in the story either, and it's never simple, so it's easy to miss things. "Blooming Day" is part of EXO-CBX's Blooming Days album and there is one song for every day of the week. "Blooming Day" is Tuesday's song. If you like their dancing you really should check out their "Blooming Day" dance practice, it's one of their most dynamic choreographies and really shows what makes them a great sub-sub-unit.

As I understand it, Horololo is a made up word that the EXO-CBX members said is meant to mean something like tough or brave. You say it when you want to show someone that you are fearless. In the "Horololo" MV many people think that CBX are private investigators or detectives, and I agree, that could be their job. However, I like to think maybe they are investigative journalists. One of the theories behind EXO's storyline is that the members are traveling through different time periods or dimensions throughout history in their search for the Tree of Life and in their quest to try and fix the destruction and corruption the Red Force has caused throughout humanity. So CBX, in particular, has several retro themed MV, which I see as possibly being CBX traveling to that era in history to try and get to the root of whatever problems the Red Force has caused to try to reverse, stop or prevent something from happening. So, in "Horololo" I interpret it as the members are trying to uncover clues to a mystery or to search for someone. I think maybe they are searching for Lay because he is the member that is away from the group. And because Lay, with his power of healing, is Baekhyun's power counterpart, it makes sense that Baekhyun would feel the strongest need to want to find Lay. Plus, EXO really needs Lay to heal everything that is going wrong right now and to protect the members from themselves and the Red Force. There is also clues to the members searching for Lay in Lay's solo "Honey" MV and Baekhyun's solo debut "UN Village" MV, as well as other clues that seem to connect to "Horololo" in those MVs. For example, if you notice the map on the wall in the office in "Horololo," that map looks very similar to the map that Baekhyun has on the wall in his "UN Village" MV. I'm not really sure what the map is showing us at this point, but I take it as a clue of connection between the two MVs. Also, if CBX are investigative reporters, it might help explain how the storyline in their "Hey Mama" MV and "Horololo" MV are intertwined. In "Hey Mama" CBX have infiltrated a news TV station and they are working to break the control the Red Force has over everyone working for the TV station. Journalists have a lot of similarities to private detectives, especially during the 1950s, '60s. '70s, '80s era. which both "Hey Mama" and "Horololo" MVs seem to be themed around. (If you notice, there are no computers in that office in "Horololo," so that establishes they are in a less modern era.) So maybe you can see why I think CBX might be undercover as part of the media in both MVs. I really see parallels in the "Horololo" MV storyline to the way investigative reporting was done before technology made it less necessary to do the footwork needed to track down the sources and information to crack a case or break a story. Kind of like, for example, in the Woodward and Bernstein era with confidential informants like "Deep Throat," etc. I think CBX might be searching for something to do with Lay, but I think they are currently doing it by way of the media. You may remember in EXO's "Love Me Right" MV how we saw Baekhyun laying on the train tracks. I think the scene in the field with Xiumin sitting on the train tracks and Chen taking photos while standing on the train tracks in "Horololo" is somehow connected to that scene in "Love Me Right." These scenes on their own may seem strange, but if you have been following EXO's story from day one, you will see that even the most minute of details, no matter how strange or out of place it may seem, has actually been very purposefully thought out and designed to be a clue to another part of EXO's story. Although, I don't know what it means yet, I am positive that that guy in the uniform who is sitting in the shed next to the train tracks, was there for a very specific reason, and it will probably become more clear in the future as SM reveals more of the story in other MVs, we just have to wait and see. At the end when they say "It ain't over yet" what I think they mean is that the story has not ended yet. The storyline of them searching for clues will continue in their future MVs. And if you notice, the office is now covered in sheets of plastic like its under construction or it has been mothballed and covered up because it has now been abandoned. I'm not sure what this means either, but I think it is showing something to do with the fact that they are traveling back and forth between time periods and they may have come back to the location from a different time in history.
