Chen is already known among the general public of S.Korea as a Movie or Drama OST singer, he did a lot actually. And yes "Beautiful Goodbye" for me is a piece of art, both the song and the mv.

My baby Chen! 🥹 He released Hello before announcing that he's going to the military after half a year on a hiatus. The lyrics are very meaningful because he announces his marriage and baby and later on that he's going to the military in a handwritten letter to the fans. He's going to be back in 11 days though 💞 April 25th-26th is his discharge date 🥹 Beautiful Goodbye is the title track of his debut mini album and as you know Shall We is the title track of his second mini album. Both were released in 2019. He's considered OST King. His first ost Best Luck was for a drama where Kyungsoo played in 2014 called That's Okay It's Love. It's actually the song that made me check out Chen and EXO 💞 He has a lot of different osts for movies and drama's, but probably the most well known is the one for Kyungsoo's drama Cherry Blossom Love Song or Everytime for Descendants Of The Sun. He leans more towards ballads, but in Exo concerts, at least the early ones he did rock solo stuff, he has a few different collabs too like the one with 10cm, which is a totally different vibe, it has an MV too if you want to check it out, it's called Bye Babe.

Yes RJ, Chen is the king of OST's for years now. My favorite is the theme to "Descendants of the Sun", a great drama I watched a few years back, and my ultimate favorite "Cherry Blossom Love Song", the love theme song of D.O.'s drama "100 Days My Prince" from a couple years back..one of the best period piece dramas ever. (Historical) D.O. plays a prince in love with a girl from his childhood...a very beautiful and cinematic love story. Maybe one day you will do that drama. But yes, all Exo members have a distinct sound and style all their own, and Chen is known for his ballad style, he creates tear-jerker songs, his first album "April and a Flower" are songs that make you cry, and he sounds amazing. He sings with such emotion, there's no doubt he could relate memories from his own experiences. "Beautiful Goodbye" has made me cry, just because it's so beautiful. The muted colors of pale pink and ash grey relate to the end of winter, and by the time April comes along, so does spring and new blossoms...a metaphor to the possibility of new love down the road, but wishing the best for the one you used to love...but always keeping the good memories. So beautiful huh? 💙🌺

Such a wonderful voice to hear, the emotions are clear with Chen. Happy, hype sad etc Hello - this was what a lot of EXO-L’s interpreted as his reach out post marriage and baby news where he faced a LOT of stupid hate from frankly not real fans or antis. Demanding he leave EXO. Chen I honestly think was in a hard position as he didn’t want to hurt fans but of course wanted to be happy about his new family life and share it with exo-ls as well as members. Hello was like the silence breaker after SM and the EXO members basically said ‘jog on’ to the antis and he wasn’t going anywhere in respect to the group. He did have to go off enlistment but we literally get him back in like less than 20days now. The lyrics talk about not having the words, being overwhelmed and fearing bursting with an expression that made things worse. But for true fans, real exo-ls, he missed them and simply said Hello. It’s so tender. Beautiful goodbye - just the idea of trying to let go of a relationship and believe that the other won’t hurt as much and will be happier. Haunting melody. Theories abound that his albums are the story of his love going through trials, almost breaking from fears and pressures but then in being realised in his following instalments. But it’s all up to interpretation lol Shall we - feels like the loved up chapter either early in relationship or perhaps how he was feeling when he and his now wife came together. Who knows but it’s clear the positive and exciting mood of the lyrics and melody expresses. Uwu loved up Chen lol Funny Chen. Lol he’s sooooooo loud. Voice like an angel; in my opinion, easily among the top five vocalists in the industry. He Is very well suited to ballads, but also to rock. When he was on Masked Singer, one of the judges was sure he was from a rock group, and he wasn’t even singing rock, more like power ballads, which he also excels at.

I have always assumed that the tree was the EXO tree, and the reason it was kind of dead looking is because of an allusion to Chen's lightning. Also because the song was about heartache, and the breakup or death of a relationship. I could be wrong, but that's the way I have always taken it.
