Boring and repetitive and unnecessary... This days I've been thinking that idols are not talented enough, I mean they only spend some yrs training and that's it's, it's about who can hold on until a enterprise wants, probably they can dance, but I haven't seen yet somebody who can sing as good as Baekhyun or Chen, or other idols from this generation, idols nowadays are pretty, but not so pretty, sing well but no so well, they're charming absolutely they're not. Making lots of groups just because, it's about quality not quantity.

Honestly same, I've been feeling this way too, sometimes I think maybe it's because I became a K-pop fan when 3rd gen was on the rise? I do like 4th gen, but 3rd gen is something else, it's so special to me, everything about 3rd gen is exactly my taste, my vibe. Ever since 4th gen came out, I thought they'd be just as cool, but as time passed by, I personally always felt like 4th gen K-pop groups are focused on aesthetics, aesthetics are an important factor too, but I feel like too much of it doesn't just sit well with me. A lot of them seem to have a similar concept throughout their songs, I repeatedly also keep seeing similar 'aesthetics', and colours in their MVs. TXT is one groups that's quite unique to me though, so I can't say all this for TXT. Of course all of this is just how I've felt personally, there are many people who would prefer 4th gen over 3rd gen any time, it's a matter of taste I believe. For me, 3rd gen is absolutely amazing, I believe it's incomparable, it left it's mark really. EXO and BTS are two groups that made me stan 3rd gen for life :D both are versatile and amazing, some people may argue that they're overrated, I really don't believe so, it's so obvious why they have all the hype. Both are very passionate about what they do, passion is important, it's what makes everything you do beautiful, and that's what they both have in common, although they both have different pathways, one's focused on rap, and the other's focused on vocals.

Agreed. I listen to some BTS songs, and i think to myself 'how basic'. Not ragging on BTS but i wonder how they got so popular when bands like Shinee and EXO exist

@@eepyru I totally agree, it's not about personal taste, i think we have to admit 4th gen is made as in a Factory, bc we have many groups, with similar aesthetic ofc, there just some exceptions, as u say TXT I say Stray Kids, both in fact, I really admire they really have talented people and not just "pretty" ones. What makes famous and give a rise to BTS, EXO, etc was their talent, what they can do not how they look or clothes they wear. And as time goes on I bet it'll get worse

The thing is.. Most of the audios for performances like this are prerecorded. For sure Korean idols can dance! And they dance well! But it's hard to dance and have such stable vocals, so lip sync is common and acceptable for dancing groups.

Oh I know that. It's the effort that they put in and the fact that they continue to dance with the real routine that really gets me. Some American singers don't try that hard and rarely do they ever continue with the original dance routine.. Not badmouthing American singers or anything as they're still pretty good

funnierthanu1 i think for korean groups, especially SM dancing groups, an overall beautiful and powerful stage might sometimes be more important than the song and singing itself. I guess its also because American and European singers are mostly solo singers, so they can do some freestyle on stage. The best western singers are born with fabulous voice and music talent, for me the melody and singing is the point of their performance.
