I believe almost everyone knows about Kai(Jongin) and his father but I noticed that there are some who are new to it . So, here's some info about Kai and his father: This is how he joined sm: Kai started off as a dancer. When Kai was a child, his father signed him up for different after-school classes. Of them all, Kai showed the most interest and talent in jazz dance. So, since second grade, Kai took dance classes. In fourth grade, after watching the Nutcracker, he realized he wanted to dance like the people on the stage. He began taking ballet lessons, inspired by this classic ballet performance. The original K-Pop group Shinhwa had a big influence over Kai’s decision to pursue a career as a singer. Kai auditioned for SM Entertainment when he was in 6th grade. In the past, Kai mentioned his father on an episode of Knowing Bros, explaining his father is the reason he is an EXO member now. Unfortunately, SM Entertainment decided Kai was too young at the time and turned him away, asking him to come back in a year or two if he still wished to become a singer. From this point on, Kai started learning street and urban dances too, all as an effort to become a singer. Kai finally joined SM Entertainment in 8th grade, in 2007, after winning the best dancer and the most popular award in the agency’s 10th SM Best Teen Contest. Kai trained five years before debuting with EXO in 2012. In an interview with Sports Seoul, EXO’s Kai opened up about the strong support he received from his father to follow his dreams. He shared how his father had originally dreamed of pursuing art, but his family was against it. Therefore, his father wanted Kai to try out whatever he wanted to do. He said, “Ever since I was young, I went to all kinds of music classes. I had the most interest in dance, and so when I was eight, I started ballet and I won a national competition for it.” He even shared how his father influenced him to join his current agency, SM Entertainment. He revealed, “Even with my SM audition, my father prepared for it. He videotaped all of my dances since I was eight and sent them to SM, and that’s how I was able to audition for them. I faced a lot of obstacles, like not passing my SM audition, but my father always believed in me.” He continued, “Nowadays, when I meet him, he says, ‘I knew you were going to do well. Even from an objective standpoint, when I saw you dance as a child, you danced really well.'” In a short film by the Italian luxury label in collaboration with GQ and Vogue where he travels back through time, an exercise that proved to uncover forgotten personal memories about his family and the origins of his love for dance and choreography- He said "One day when I was little, I saw someone dancing on TV. I told my dad, ‘I want to do that.’ The next day he took me to a dance studio." "My dad had to remain in our hometown village, to support my dance class tuition. He knew what it felt like to give up on one’s dreams. He chose to remain there, so I didn’t have to give up on mine." He later went live on Instagram. While talking about the film, he revealed how much the film meant to him as well as how he still had all the videos his father recorded of him dancing. Unfortunately Jongin aka Kai's father passed away on 7th May, 2018 when Kai was just 24 years after suffering from a chronic illness I might have missed out some details but I hope this helps ... He was the one who told Jongin to audition so he will buy him a nintendo. We're thankful to Kai's father for everything. I just noticed, chanyeol really tried to make a little happier his friend, but the some time he don’t know how to do that. After the ‘butterfly’ he seemed too worried, maybe cause he thought he just interrupted or bothered kai with his acton. Or maybe he just checking if Kai crying or not. Anyway, his eyes was so worried, when he checked Kai. He looked like a baby who doesn’t know how to comport his little brother. Good job dud.

I can say what Kai was feeling that time. He was trying to show that everything was okay, he was okay, not only to other people, but for himself. I lost my mother, when I was a student, and I thought that I was okay, I didn't want to stay at home alone with my thoughts, so after a couple of weeks I went to uni, because I needed people, I needed them to fill the space, I needed them, so they could distract me. I remember, when my friends were talking about something ordinary, and I felt good. I had moments when it wasn't easy to come back from my deep thoughts, and when they distracted me, I used to forget what I was doing and froze, but I always was grateful for my friends who cheered me up that moments. My bias is Kai, and I know how hard these days were for him, and I am so happy, that Chanyeol was cheering him up, and I am sure other members supported him a lot too.
