Since the technical/graphical side of the game is done, I can finally expand on the gameplay side. So in this video, I talk about the various menus I made for the game, and how I expanded on the gliding the mechanic. Also, the name of the (at least for now) is going to be "FRACTAL GLIDE".
The game has now been released!

The "click" currently sounds like a small wooden drum, not a click.

I am going to be changing it to something better. But yeah it is like a wooden drum now that I think about it lol

how would you feel about a bubble popping sound? maybe it would sound like blowing bubbles into a cup at higher speeds? it's a softer sound but maybe not as satisfying so idk. @@nabilnymansour

in my next devlog ill showcase some of the fractals that I've made. The game will have 5 distinct ones.

you could try making the clicking noises something more like a shorter click where more points ends up it being higher pitch(not sure how to explain)

it might also sound good to just vary the pitch randomly

I will change the sound as I don't want the score to be related to being close to the terrain (although I will still use that a bit). I will explain it once I do the next devlog. I was busy with school during last fall so now I can go back to this project and finish it.

I think you should clamp the camera distance because the character gets quite smal on screen when you go fast. Bonus point if you make the max distance tweakable in the options menu. I'm not sure if you need to clamp the minimum distance, but having an option for that aswell won't hurt. Looks great so far. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thats an interesting point. It never really crossed my mind. I do usually like how far the camera gets as that helps the sense of speed, but I guess other people might have a different preference. I'll see if I can do this as I have lots more to do in the game, but if I have some time left, I will add something like this. Thanks 🙌

I'm currently focusing on finishing the game and releasing it on steam, but afterwards, I will be making a lot of resources and videos about all the rendering work I've done (which will include some SDFs that you see in the game).

That's true 😅. I am just a graphics programmer (and still not the best at that) so sounds is something I am learning as I go.

You should remove point sound. It's just grating on the ears. Instead, you can choose a melodic constant tone and change it's pitch.

Camera shake should be tied to how close you are to the surface.

i think the point sound should a softer subtle tone with its pitch indicating the point increase rate, the hit marker sound is, odd, imho. but i think thats the only critique i can offer

It used to be from being close to the fractal (like a near miss) but now I've changed that into a collectable system and tweaked the near miss points too. The next devlog will discuss what I am doing right now with the game.

u can always end up lowering the volume I suppose, and it is tied to ur speed so I think its not the worst imo
