A Doctor's EXPECTATION vs REALITY. What does a Radiologist ACTUALLY do? How difficult are the studies a Radiologist reads/interprets!? In this video I tried to highlight some of the complicated Chest X-rays that we read on a daily basis. I hope you enjoy!

I’m a student diagnostic radiographer (x-ray tech) and its so cool to see the importance of obtaining radiographs of good radiographic quality for radiologist to analyse. Thanks for the insightful vids.

I've often wondered about the professional divide between MDs and techs in medical imaging. To the rest of us, it seems strange that there's two different educational tracks when you'd think that a good radiologist would have first learned to be a radiographer.

Thanks for what you do. Having someone like you that cares and is very knowledgeable is so appreciated. I have had many chest CT’s over the last 2 years and went from being an endurance athlete to being diagnosed with CVID with the lung (possible GLILD) and blood complications. It has been a rough ride - pneumothorax post bronchoscopy, and worsening granulomas. I pray they can get the progression to stop and reverse it. I have a lot to live for.

Great video :D! Thank you so much for taking the time to upload your thoughts and teach us (speaking as a medical student here :)!). Just a quick note, to make the video explanation more complete maybe but a note in somewhere explaining that x-rays taken on patients lying down (like this one) has an anterior-posterior beam path and structures like the heat will be more enlarged vs the standard standing posterio-anterior radiograph :D!

I really like your approach! I personally did the same. I work as a pmed in an ER and have seen hundreds of xrays. I think once you've seen what a clear clear xray is supposed to look like you can start to pick out irregularities. I always like to pick the brain of the doctor's and most highly encourage it! I am constantly learning and forever studying! What is your opinion on locating your landmarks and working off that to understand where you are at on these chest?

Of course, one begins with the pt.'s name/medical record # to correlate with the requisition form and the left/right orientation markers and body position. As pointed out, the absolutely essential thing is to have an unvarying and consistent approach to every radiograph so that nothing is ever missed.

Out of curiosity, as someone who studies imaging and doesn't round a lot, does a PT's circumstances affect you? This Pt has an ET, 3 chest tubes, GT, 2 IJ's, etc. My perspective is that this person is in dire straights. Do you see the imaging alone or do you consider the PT's circumstances? I work with a lot of IR teams and it'd be nice to get another separate party perspective while not calling out the doctors I work with.

Hi Dr Ollie Burton! I wanted to ask that how long does it take for one to transform from a being a Pharmacist to a Physician specifically ?
@tomare6479
@tomare6479 3 жыл бұрын
Pharmacist needs to make sure that they have the required courses or similar, as well as youth potentially, may take 1 or more years to have the required or similar course completion, as well as taking them mcat admissions test, may be harder for someone out of college especially if working but can be done. Then 4 years med school then residency which is another 4 or more years, usually.

Chest xrays and mammo are actually the hardest things to read in radiology. You really don't master a chest xray until you get past 5-10,000 of them. You hit those numbers well after residency....

I have some questions that could be dumb but I hope that you can answer them for me. I have seen people that claim they are a Radiologist but they work from home? Is that a thing and does it take more or less training? Also, do they make the same amount of money? Thanks for your time, I am just looking into Radiology as a potential career and so I want to look at all the options.
